The Orpik thing pisses me off on many levels...first the obvious loss of Maatta, second the fact that he makes a predatory hit and is still in the game while the Pens will be down one D all game, third the lack of major penalty, and fourth HE WAS KNOCKED SILLY TWO WEEKS AGO. Interference isn't new to Brooks, his calling card is marginally late to quite late hits. Elbows are new. You're a shit bag, Brooks. Complaining about the call makes you a mega shit bag.

As Maatta looks like he'll be injured, maybe Orpik will actually get a game or two. But you're right, the Caps will be allowed to dress a replacement D - no such luck for the Pens with Maatta out.

Caps still looking for their first shot of period 2 and we're 12 minutes in.

Penguins are way more aggressive and the Caps just can't get anything going at all going shot wise.

No goal call is the right call, but don't agree with the penalty call.

Why? He fell down on the goalie's head without any pressure from the D. How is it not interference?

Great period by the Pens, but despite dominating, they're only up 1. Letting Caps hang around by blowing powerplay after powerplay. And deserved or not, you know the refs are going to call the first minor they possibly can against Pittsburgh in the third. Just not where you want to be.

Also, Caps have definitely inherited some dirt in Wilson / Orpik / Richards, etc... Richards doublehanded Hornqvist twice to the body on that last powerplay, knowing the refs wouldn't call a 2-man advantage at that stage. DTF (dirty as ...)

The Caps are playing awful, with the exception of the PK, so it's pretty amazing they are still in the game.

It's weird how the dirtiest team in the league seems to be whomever is playing the Penguins. Well judging from message board posts.

If you watch it again, he was helped down by Murray's stick.

Yeah, and usually they call that a penalty when it's intentional. I don't think that was intentional on Kuzy, just kinda backed into and tripped over him. Certainly a no-goal, but I agree with Ritari. However, the Caps have been playing like ass, and teams that play like ass don't get the benefit of the doubt on calls. Or it least they shouldn't.

There's the bullshit call and the goal. Like clockwork.

Have to make the PP opportunities even! Even if they're uneven because another team has had the puck a ton more! Seriously, Letang hit him...he had the puck...

The problem is they'll "make up for it" with a call the other way, but the damage is done. Trading power plays benefits the Caps.

Caps couldn't have been gifted more breaks in that game and couldn't pull it out. Where's Elololco tonight? :D
