The big major benefit is like a 60% increase in battery life.
Like I said, the only reason I don't is the risk that something in my email gets leaked. I torture the hell out of my Linux laptop, though. Almost to the point of being able to call it my own Distro.
Do you use native email on the Android, or a third party app? I ask only because I know most of the third party apps have root detection built in and won't function on a rooted phone. Had a guy at work that had previously rooted then reset his phone, but the app we used could still detect that it had been rooted at one time and blocked install.
