I'm sorry I picked your post apart but I don't buy into this spread shit. Last time I checked very few spread teams have won NC's. Hell the best spread team Nike U hasn't won NC. Tom Osborne showed us the way just like Nick Saban at Alabama. You play great defense and you pound the rock.

Last time I check a Bielema coached Wisconsin team kicked the shit out of our Husker's two of the three times they played. Enough Said

Florida
FSU
Texas
lsu
Colorado
OU

all won using spread.....

I understood quite well that, right after the Wyoming game, it becomes less sobering in the evenings particularly

Speaking of blowouts. I hope to hell Nebraska doesn't make it to the title game! Urban the great would make mince meat of Mr. Discomboomerated by the score of 77-3!

Briles is waiting on Texas. I'm not interested in Malzahn at all but of course I don't really care for all this spread shit offense either.

Mark Richt would be my top choice.
David Shaw second
Bret Bielema third.
Craig Bohl forth

No offense, but it'd be hard for me to continue supporting the team if Richt or Bielema took over....not even sure about Bohl. Shaw is the only good one on that list.

you said spread didn't say what kind of spread.....
you gave me an open window to use a lot of teams

so all those teams were using spread concepts

even pro teams are doing it with success

you can dislike or hate spread but it isn't going anywhere anytime soon

Any dumbass knows the spread offense isn't going anywhere soon. Nick Saban 4 NC with playing great defense and running the football. Guess what it's the same blue print Nebraska used in the 90's. It's been proven many times over it still works and always will work.

Where is plenty of thought in mentioning two guys who are in their respective ideal recruiting territories? Along with the fact Auburn fans are now saying "We now know who engineered our championship" and on the other side Baylor rebuilding a fucking stadium because Briles is there? On top of that, UT doesn't even know if Briles would take that job. Wrap your head around that.

Briles and Malzahn are building to win a fucking natty.

Like I said before, offer a serious suggestion. And, again, apologies if I sound abrasive, it's just I think you haven't given any thought on those two. And that's fine, just don't bullshit me.
-------
What's not serious if you don't try? I would never sugest that we could ever get a Saben or a Meyer, but we'll never know without trying. Thereare plenty of really good HCs out there while they continue to "win" have pretty much plateaued out whenit comes to "doing better" mainly because they are stuck in conferences where there is 2or 3 or 4 other coaches in their conference that do have the top pickings. Some schools that don't have realistic expectations for their programs. Schools that might win but will never be able to get to the top.

And the two teams you feel are ridiculous suggestions just may not be:

Auburn--has a history of over-expectations for its football program. Every 5-6 years they dump someone after a so so season of rebuilding simply because they feel they can compete with all the other big boys in the SEC. Their history is that they have an intefering alumni base that thinks they know more than the football coaches. That's not conducive to a productive long term coaching staff.

Baylor--while Briles has made them a helluva lot better, where do they rank in terms of quality programs in Texas? Hell even the new stadium that's being finished will only seat 45000 people--in Texas? It's a church run school (Baptist) and has only 15000 students. They may win a conference title (possibly this year), but to suggest that Briles expects or wants a national title from this school is a stretch. He may like it there? Might stay? But there are plenty of reasons he just might look elsewhere.

No one should be exempt from our ADs list of possible coaches. We have many quality players now but since the Devaney/Osborne era, what we've lacked is a HC that can coach "up". You don't get that by hiring an unproven assistant. We've tried that (twice) and haven't had the success needed to bring this program back up to where it belongs. There are realistically two drawbacks to Nebraska. We're in the middle of nowhere and our weather sucks. We have the facilities, we have the money, we have a fanatical fan base. What's needed is a proven commodity as HC.

BTW, Briles would be on my short list for the very reasons I mentioned.

and plenty of pro style and spread offense have won without doing the 3 yards and a cloud of dust

it's a new age of football unless you're gonna get the best OK or talent spread is the way to level the playing field
