Shit. With 7 playoff teams? Last year's squad would have come within a ball hair of making the playoffs. Even despite the unwatchable offense.

I don't like the addition purely as a fan of football. I thought the NFL had the best functioning playoff system. No fan asked for it to change. However, if it gets me an extra Bears playoff game per decade or so... that's cool. lol

It's all about money. It adds one more playoff game to the schedule. That's why the MLB has added more and the NBA has 8 teams make the playoffs and extended the first round to 7 games some years ago. Money money money.
