Floyd officially gone. Man, i'm pretty pumped for this pickup. Just hope Quinn doesn't shit the bed. That's a big, long contract for a 30 year old defensive lineman.

Pass rushers tend to age well. Age 30 season isn't that old for a DE. This is basically like the Peppers signing. You probably get 2-3 years of his best. Years 3-5 get a bit murky but that's why there's an out after the 2nd year.

Only ? on Quinn is being in a 3-4. He has performed better with his hand in the dirt throughout his career than he has standing up.

But just his presence across from Mack is critical. Teams have to respect it. This deal is as much about helping Mack as it is getting a guy that can rush the passer.

Lets not forget Hicks here. You need 3 solid pass rushers for a dominant front. If these 3 can stay healthy, our D goes to another level.

And guys like RRH, Nichols, and Goldman become even more dangerous.

The domino effect of simply having someone that can rush the passer opposite Mack is immense.

Trevathan/Roquan in the middle. RRH/Nichols rotating at the other DT spot.

The front seven is absolutely and unquestionably DISGUSTING. It could mean a lot of fun for Jackson/Fuller as well.

Let’s hope they can stay healthy and the offense can finally figure it out. It doesn’t appear as though we have too much depth in the front 7 next year in case we get any injuries. If Mack, Quinn, and Hicks can stay healthy, I think we can have a scary defense all year.

Yeah, especially at edge rusher. There is currently NO ONE behind Mack/Quinn. Isaiah Irving and that SPT'er with the crazy name that we signed from Seattle.

Hicks going down hurt because it took us from the best D in football to the back-end/fringes of elite. At least we had RRH, Nichols and Urban who wasn't bad. Along with the ever durable Goldman (knock on wood) in the middle. I cringe at who we would be trotting out on the edge if we should endure injuries there.

Weird to say this, but Nick Williams will be missed.

Ah, yeah. I didn't include him. I knew I was missing someone. He was a pleasant surprise and provided very good depth. 6 sacks, 42 tackles, 5 TFL's and 2 deflected passes at the LOS.

In a rotational role that's nothing to scoff at. Good cheap addition for Detroit but he may just go to waste there.

I liked Williams from the first time he subbed in a game, spelling Eddie for a series. He eventually branched out to cover all three spots on the DL. I think the Lions overpaid a bit for his services, assuming the two year/$10 mil is fully guaranteed, but they did acquire a gamer, no arguing that.

Great video. Quite honest too, not mincing any words about Quinn's previous stint in the 3-4. I think he's certainly onto something with the defense running plenty of nickel where we substitute a down lineman for a corner rather than a linebacker. You could see a lot of Mack/Quinn/Hicks and one of Goldman/RRH/Nichols with Roquan and Trevathan in the middle since they're both quite good at blitzing and covering which leaves you with 5 DBs. I also like how he pointed out that we're certainly relying heavily on Bush to be a downhill type safety as a result (if he's indeed tabbed to start for now).

All we gotta do is score at a reasonable rate and we'll be in the playoff picture. Same story as the last two years.

Shit. With 7 playoff teams? Last year's squad would have come within a ball hair of making the playoffs. Even despite the unwatchable offense.

I don't like the addition purely as a fan of football. I thought the NFL had the best functioning playoff system. No fan asked for it to change. However, if it gets me an extra Bears playoff game per decade or so... that's cool. lol
