It’s crazy, they turned a potential series sweep into a 2-1 victory. Given how late in the game these last 2 comebacks were, I would’ve wager on the Ls.2 fantastic come from behind wins in a row.
Love how Munoz challenged the hitter for that K to end the game.
Great comparisons. I never went there in my mind but you are right. Old school. Love it. I hope he makes it to Seattle someday like his daddy did. That would be so cool.Even though Jack Wilson Jr ended the game striking out, that kid is a real gamer. He is going to be an impact player for a long time. He is like a Paul Moliter, Robin Young type. I see some of Ben Williamson in him although Ben is more patient at the plate and does not have the professional hitter-type skills that Wilson currently has, I can see Williamson ultimately getting there in a year or two.
I didn't even pay attention to his free agency. It would be weird to see him on another team. For as much as I have doubted him over the years as a starter, always like him as a bench guy, he has been huge for us. Not sure the cheap asses will pay up though.Dylan Moore flashed some serious glove tonight. He is 32-years-old and a pending free agent, and he is playing like a guy who knows that his performance this year might be a prelude to his last chance to land a decent contract. He keeps playing like he has so far, and, the way MLB owners are throwing around money these days, he could be looking at a 3-year/$36 million contract from someone this winter..
Another observation on Wilson. Three of his four hits were to the opposite field. If he is truly trying to exploit opposite-field hitting in most at bats, MLB pitchers, catchers, and pitching coaches will make adjustments. He should expect to see more inside pitches and get plunked a few times.Easily my favorite win of the year.
A couple other notes:

Yea last year it was 100% pitching needed to be perfect and if it wasn’t we would lose. This year the pitching hasn’t been good and the offense has held them up, while I don’t think the offense keeps up this level of play all season if they can do like 80% of this the rest of the way and we get Kirby and Gilbert back. This could be a fun team.If these guys learned anything from last year by blowing a 10 game division lead… they’d be smart to just keep that foot on the pedal.
Completely agreed, but, a team needs to fire on all cylinders in order to keep their collective feet on the pedal. And, this team simply does not have a playoff bullpen right now. Maybe it will ultimately, but right now it does not. You have two guys, Munoz and Speier, who are consistently delivering us quality outs in impactful situations. But, following them, you have a host of 7-9 guys continuously rotating between Seattle and Tacoma whom we never know what we can expect from. Hard to believe given some of the position players we are carrying on the team roster, but the bullpen is actually our weak link right now.If these guys learned anything from last year by blowing a 10 game division lead… they’d be smart to just keep that foot on the pedal.
Awesome. With Kirby's and Gilbert's health issues, he has embraced the temporary ace role without any issues. Imagine having Gibert, Kirby, and Woo all healthy for an entire season. That could be historic. Not a great start, but he battled. You have to love that.
