Because they are smarter than everyone else. Duh!

I think they wait to use a reliver extra-long knowing they have the replacement ready to go. This gives them insurance. They did it with Thomas the OF the other day because they wanted to be 100% sure on Raley. After seeing the clip, there was no doubt he was done for some time.

I guess but it still seems weird cause it’s not like Brash is going to go two days in a row so it doesn’t matter when they have to option or DFA a reliever. So just to me it makes more sense to pencil him to pitch an inning today then go from there.
