So the A's contract with the River Cats ends after this season as does the Giants contract with Fresno.

Giants have been thrown out by the Sac Bee and a few reporters as the team who might want to get the RiverCats as their affiliate, as many have said Sacramento has big Giants fan base, would be ideal for them.

What are your thoughts?

I'd personally love it. Would mean that our AAA team was just 10 minutes away from me, I could attend at least one game per week (when they are at home)

That would be great, I live in Sacramento as well and most of the Rivercats games I go to are when Fresno is visiting.

We have a TON of fans in Fresno as well. Although the Stadium in Sacramento is awesome, I don't know if I would give up the whole Central Valley.

Good point.

If the Giants already "own" Sacto, than why re-invest in the area. They can own Sacto AND the central valley by staying in Fresno.

The proximity to SF is a non-factor as Fresno is rather close as well.

The biggest positive would be if it somehow incentivized the A's to move out of Oakland and out of the state.

Why is the AA team so far away in Richmond? I can see the affiliates being in diff states, but across the country has me scratching my head.

Because there aren't any AA leagues that much closer. Realistically, there's not that much difference between getting on a plane to travel for 4 hours, or getting on a plane for 6 hours. The Giants used to have their affiliate in the Texas league, and BOY did the players hate playing in Texas and Arkansas during the summer!
