Mirtle, in quite an irresponsible move, made this comment which was contradictory (to this point) to the police report. Really sick of "gotta be first" journalism. Is it an easy assumption to make because of the history? Sure. But, the police have said natural causes at the moment, or at least no assumption of intentional death. It's a very sad situation, but if it were a family member that's a really awful thing to say with no basis. If I had just lost someone close to me, hearing suicide makes it seem that much worse...just wish the media would be considerate of that.

He apologized rather profusely for it, but that doesn't cut it anymore. Journos and the organizations they represent need to cut this shit out. Does anybody remember who broke the Leafa trade this morning? Or the Kane trade? How about the first to cut to the Boston bombing?

Until the organizations reporting these bozos hold them responsible, they will ultimately be at fault and crap like this won't end. It's easy to suspend Brian Williams after realizing he's lied about various things for a decade, it's much more difficult to ask yourselves why you didn't realize what he was doing for ten fucking years.

I have heard the Flames will be having a moment of silence for Steve Montador prior to tonight's game - Martin Gelinas was pretty choked up when he heard the news (fighting back tears).

A friend of mine knew Steve Montador since his time here in the AHL, and apparently they have kept in touch. Said he was just speaking with him last week and that he was very excited about becoming a dad soon.
