I loved that show, at least the early years of it. I watched it every week.
He did a good job on that show.


I remember watching the original, I guess you could call it a pilot, the 'Homecoming' with patricia neal as the mother, in 1971. I was hooked.

I remember watching that as well and you are right, the first 5 seasons or so were great after John Boy left, Grandma had a stroke and Grandpa died it was never the same, and Olivia wasn't around much in the later years.

The Waltons has to be on the list of the greatest TV series in history and Ralph Waite played a part in that. Sorry to see him go.

Waite also directed many episodes of The Waltons....and he was the director of a very good film called, "On the Nickel" (about the 5th street skid row area of L.A.) He also starred in 2 iconic films "Cool Hand Luke" w/ Paul Newman...and "Five Easy Pieces" w/ Jack Nicholson.
