The question I always have when guys start shooting up the draft boards two weeks from the draft...

Is it because the guy is just that talented, or because teams have a need??

Guice is good, I like him. But Im not sure the pick at 13 is talent, or more of need.

I would simply ask, who saw our board to see him shooting up it?

Or is he shooting up mock boards of people who know nothing?

2018 Mock Drafts: Derrius Guice To The Redskins?

With the Redskins looking to bolster the running back position at some point in the 2018 NFL Draft, one recent mock draft has Washington selecting LSU's Derrius Guice with the No. 13 selection.

The last running back the Washington Redskins selected in the first round of the NFL Draft was 1967. CBSSports.com's Chris Trapasso believes the gap between running backs taken in the first round will close this year for Washington.

In his latest mock draft, Trapasso has the Redskins selecting LSU running back Derrius Guice with the No. 13-overall pick.

"The Redskins like Samaje Perine, but he and Guice could create a power duo that'd wear down defenses in the NFC East," Trapasso writes.

In three seasons with the Tigers, Guice carried the ball 471 times for 3,074 yards and 29 touchdowns along with 32 receptions for 250 yards and three receiving touchdowns.

During his junior season in 2017, Guice was named a second-team All-SEC selection, as he recorded 1,251 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 237 carries. The Baton Rouge, La., native began the season with back-to-back 100-yard, two-touchdown games against BYU and Chattanooga.

His best performance of the year, though, came against Ole Miss in late October, as he recorded a season-high 276 rushing yards and one touchdown on 22 carries (12.5 yards per attempt). Guice also had a three-touchdown game against Arkansas before closing out his college career with two receiving touchdowns against Notre Dame in the Citrus Bowl.

As a sophomore in 2016, Guice was a first-team All-SEC selection along with being named to Scout.com's All-America team, as he rushed for nearly 1,400 yards with 15 touchdowns despite only starting six of his 12 outings.

NFL: Is LSU RB Derrius Guice The Second Best RB In The Draft?

After recording just three yards on two attempts in the season-opener against Wisconsin, Guice tallied at least 100-yard in six of his next 11 games including two 200-yard performances in two of the final three regular season games.

Against Arkansas, the 5-foot-10, 212 pounder logged 252 yards and two touchdowns on the ground before carrying the ball 37 times for 285 yards and four touchdowns two weeks later against Texas A&M.

He closed out the season helping lead LSU to a 29-9 victory over Louisville, as his 138 rushing yards and two total touchdowns were enough to be named Citrus Bowl MVP.

During his freshman season, Guice carried the ball 51 times for 436 yards and three touchdowns as he was a freshman all-conference selection by SEC coaches.

According to his NFL.com draft profile, Guice is "well-built combining powerful lower body with good overall size" along with "exceptional contact balance carrying power to punish second-level tacklers."

A potential pro comparison for Guice is five-time Pro Bowler Marshawn Lynch, who has six 1,000-yard seasons under his belt.

"While Guice has some elusiveness and long speed, much of his success comes from his furious running style and ability to create yardage after contact. Guice's yards per touch was two yards higher over his first two seasons compared to last year. Like Leonard Fournette the year before, teams may be willing to lock in on his sophomore tape to create their evaluations and grades. Guice's running style could lead to a shorter career, but he has a chance to make a big splash early," writes NFL.com's Lance Zierlein.

I think him running a 4.4 with his size at the combine has something to do with it. Michel's 4.5 probably cost him 10 to 15 slots.

I've always been more of a game tape guy, but Guice looks real good on tape too. Thirteen is high though.
