Robert Griffin III Talks About His New QB Coach, His Injuries, His Future With the Redskins, and DeflateGate - Hogs Haven

he should just shut up and work on his mental game . this crap about coming back faster from injuries is foolishness

It doesn't appear he has learned much. On one hand, he talks about how he was injured all last year. Then he says he come back from injury quicker than others. He contradicts himself. He also is still deflecting any responsibility he has had for his poor performance. If this interview represents his current line of thinking, I'm not optimistic we will see much improvement from him this year.

Well it is true that ankle injury was pretty serious and when he did come back you could tell he was hesitant for awhile about running on it

Then he shouldn't have rushed back. He was responsible for that. Gruden surely wasn't pressing him.

Contrast RGIII with 49ers Kaepernick who is right now working hard to get better with Kurt Warner.

my thoughts exactly . he doesnt look to me as a guy who understands that his mental game is an issue

i think he will be gone after his contract is up if he cant grasp the mental side of the game or accept the coaching he needs

:agree: If he was limited he should have sat. I just think he is doing what he does and making excuses instead of accepting reponsibility.

j_y maybe I am wrong but it sure seems to me like Gruden gave up on Cousins. The other think Gruden didn't do was to pick a QB and stick with him. His indecsion at QB was very poor.

I dont necessarily think Gruden gave up on Cousins, I think he pulled him because at that point he was spiraling down and could have been permanently harmed. I bet Cousins is busting his ass this offseason. I fully expect that it will be a true open competition next preseason and I think we may see that Cousins is the better prepared of the two. I also don't think they will re sign Colt. First, he will want a raise. Second, there just aren't enough snaps for 3 QBs in an open competition. There is enough tape on Colt to know what he is. And that is a career backup. I believe this competition will be between KC and RG (unless they sign someone else and trade Cousins or RG).

Does this mean that I think Cousins can be a productive starting NFL QB? Honestly, I'm not sure. He is smart, he has skills, and he can move the offense and score points. But his INT issue is nothing new. He threw a bunch in College also. But I also have seen many good young QBs throw a slew of INTs and learn from their mistakes and grow out of it. Take a look at some of the great QBs like Aikman, Bradshaw, Young and others. Their first few years they were INT machines. But after a few years, something clicked and they began to see the field better.

I will also say this. I think its more likely to solve an INT issue in a QB than solve a lack of pocket presence and sense in a QB. The latter is more of an feeling that is not really coachable. You either have it or you don't. RG3 does not have that sense or feel in the pocket.

Not sure a guy who has been criticized for not spending enough time studying film should be using the term "mental break" so often. And yeah he is still blaming the injury but I'm pretty sure the injury didn't make him hesitant to throw the damn ball.

I share the concern, sounds like he hasn't changed at all.

This latest criticism from Tim brown is telling, but not surprising. These are the same rumors we heard coming from the locker room. So at what point do we determine we are just spinning our wheels with this guy and we cut out losses?

I also asked this question in another thread, but should we revisit drafting either Mariota or Winston if they fall to us? I'm not yet ready to go there, primarily because I have doubts about both of those players and their ability to be NFL QBs (for different reasons), but I'm starting to wonder about it.

Yeah I heard them talk about this too. First off this is not news, lots of reports named and unnamed. With that said Tim Brown has also spoken up about Rich Gannon and our new OL coach too. But then again maybe he was on point there and he's just not a guy who is afraid to speak up

Agreed. It's only 'news' to fans that are blind homers at this point.
