what is it about this orange and black kool-aid that makes people think players that don't belong in the NFL need to play for us.

Zimmer's comment gives me pause....as I have great respect for him, what am I missing? Why doesn't Zim see the same problems with Rey that I see?

he's got "potential"

probably Mike Brown sat the coaches down and said, "listen, he makes X amount of dollars, we're stuck with him, okay!? make it work, lets be positive and make it work"

sort of a six million dollar man philosophy, if we just keep investing in the asshole, he'll get better.

I'm surprised someone on the offense hasn't tried to pop him in practice.

...

I should add... probably whoever said he was worth keeping to start with is in danger of looking stupid if it never works out.

1) He's not going to call out his player for sucking in the media even if he believes the player sucks.

2) In another article Zimmer said:

"He takes everything very hard, takes everything to heart, and sometimes that holds him back," defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer said last Monday. "We were talking about it today. That was two days ago that we played the game. I said, 'You've got to let that go.' That's not doing him any good to harbor all those thoughts that he let this guy down or me down or the team down. Because he didn't."

Zimmer is only saying what he believes one of Maualuga's issues is, not that he's not ready to give up on him or wants to keep it as the article says.
