Talk bouncing around this afternoon is that the Patriots have/will offer Darrell Revis a fully guaranteed 4 year $60M contract.

Only heard a couple of minutes of WEEI but I didn't hear the entire conversation so I'm not sure how/who/where/when this came about or if they were just talking "WHAT IF".......

Anybody hear the entire conversation or heard anything more ????

If it's crap I apologize, if not ..............................Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At 3;45PM this afternoon, the Patriots announced that they are not picking up the $20M option on Revis' contract.

He officially became a free agent at 4:00 PM.

The Patriots, Revis and his agent are negotiating a new contract as I type.

Supposedly, the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs have already tampered and have offers on the table.

The Patriots will, if necessary, take legal action against both and against the league if the league doesn't take disciplinary action. Wonder what that could cost the league??

Dam, I hoped he would stay.
We will see what Bob Kraft's response will be to the tampering. He seemed pissed with deflate bullshit, he may all out bullshit now.

Too bad. I was hoping they'd seal the deal earlier.

The Pats are still planning to aggressively pursue Revis so there's still a decent chance he ends up back with the Pats.

Sometimes radio reports can be impossible to track down. But it's fun to try.

The league sent out as letter to all 32 teams about this. You are supposed to e able to make any offers until tomorrow. The league said it will be investigating teams.

"NFL free agents are permitted to officially sign with other teams Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, but a three-day negotiating period began Saturday during which teams could start exchanging written summaries of their pitches to agents for players on other teams. Teams can negotiate based on an agent's response but are not permitted to describe their pitches as offers.

Teams also are not permitted to agree to contracts with players on other teams during the negotiating period."

That did not apply to Revis. If any team contacted him prior to 4PM today it's tampering.

IMO if Revis wanted to be here, he would have been done by now. He knew what NE was going to offer, so either he does not like what NE offered or he is going to get the very last dollar he can. Nothing about Revis over the years tells me he will not take the most money. They talk about Revis going home to the team that drafted him....well that team does not exist anymore. New coach, new GM and the same dip shit for an owner. NO QB in NYJ, he should know what it was like to play with crappy QB's, until this yr. He got his ring, so why not get paid. NOW, I could be way off (hope I am) and there could be a deal in place, which is why the declined that option and are now working on restructuring or cutting other guys.

As for this tampering...we all know nothing is going to happen. It will be from the NFL "all teams were tampering when they were not suppose to" This legal tampering will not be here next yr. Anything NE tries to do will be swept under the rug. NYJ already tampered with Revis and the league did nothing. I expect the same.

The Jets owner saying he'd like Revis was not tampering IMHO.
An apology would be fine - at least as long as Mike Kensil gives BB a blowjob on ESPN when deflategate is found to be his doing......

If he's content with one ring and wants to go off to a team going nowhere..so be it. He can plan on a 16-game season going forward.

That statement was absolute text book tampering. Anyone who heard it rolled their eyes. How is expressing interest in a player who's under contract with another team not tampering? Now I don't disagree the statement was most probably inadvertent... but he really should have known better. At a minimum they should be docked a 2016 7th rounder...Small punishment and almost painless, but driving home the point.

4:00 PM and nothing from the Patriots or Revis. Or Browner.

The silence is deafening.....
