I don’t think he’s a bad coach at all, but it seems like some great coaches will be available this off-season. Mike McDaniel looks like he might be let go by the dolphins, and I think that’s downright stupid. He’s young and looks like he could be good for a long time. Sean Payton is great and he’s available. Sean McVay is also looking like he will be available. Heck, even Jim Harbaugh might be available. With all of these good to great head coaches available, I wouldn’t mind cutting ties with eberflus to bring one of three in. I’m not a huge fan of Harbaugh, but he’s not too bad. Who do you want to be HC next year?

BGFP is off to a strong start fanning the flames with a "Fire the coach and screw extra picks just draft Jalen Carter" offseason scenario.

Why would Sean McVay be available? The whole point of him leaving is that he's burned out and needs time.

Payton is available, but most certainly only for a select amount of teams.

Eberflus is head coach, and that's really where this starts and stops. However, FWIW, Eberflus hasn't even had a real shot to coach yet. He's a defensive minded head coach who had his D completely gutted and had nothing but scrubs to work with all along the front seven. Also, had a young QB still in development, that didn't have a whole lot to work with himself.

I thought McVay was leaving because he didn’t want to deal with a long rebuild. The Rams are about where we were at the end of last year. I think it’s worth kicking the tires.

I wish we could interview coaches without firing eberflus, but I understand that would create issues even if we could.

Team was fun to watch. Way more mature than previous seasons... I'm willing to let him ride out the current rebuild. This teams next few years relies more on Poles. At least, that's how it feels to me.

Not to mention, even if his reasoning was that he didn't want to deal with a rebuild? What do you think we're in the middle of? We could definitely be better next season, but it's not exactly like he would be totally sold on a team that just posted the league's worst record.

We should still kick the tires if possible. I don’t really care what a bunch of journalists and the peanut gallery say. They’re usually wrong anyway.

Found this investigative dandy dated Nov 3rd

Going back to 2018 when Eberflus was a defensive playcaller with the Colts, his defenses have given up go-ahead scores to lose a game no fewer than 24 times. That is not a misprint. There were 24 instances where his team had a chance to close out a game, and his defense gave up the lead. It has happened 9 times with the Bears.

I'm generally not in favor of changing horses in midstream, and in this specific situation I pretty much retain the same attitude. But I'll simply say that there will be no hand wringing on my part if Flus does get the ax. I'm sure it will be in the best interests of the franchise whichever direction is taken here.

Gone tomorrow if management gives af.

Dude has taken us as far as he ever will, and that is saying something. Done. Seriously, make it make sense? He's a D coordinator at best.

Like I said, I can't argue with this. Right now I'm too stunned how we looked so good just a couple of weeks ago and now it seems we're back to square one.

It’s clear we aren’t going anywhere. It’s clear he’s lost the locker room. Send a signal to all the players questioning WTF is going on, and any player that has lost their drive that you SEE what’s happening and it isn’t tolerable!

If whomever the interim coach is wins or loses, it doesn’t matter. Barring a dramatic turnaround, it’s a new regime for 2025, and the players will know it!

Show Caleb, show DJ, show Keenan, show Swift/Roschon and show this defense that we’re in it to win it! Otherwise we’re back to the trash bin before we even climbed out of it!

If the Bears break their historical protocol by firing him midseason, this may be the reason.

If not, what rabbit does Poles pull out of the hat at the trade deadline?

"Payton doesn't want to be part of a rebuild"....

What the F are the Bears currently doing? You are literally not getting a single coach you listed. Not. One.

I wish... it would light a fire under this team and maybe save the season from totally spiraling.

But...

A) We don't fire coaches mid-season and we've had bigger nightmare seasons where we still waited. This is a really, really bad and unfortunate patch. Mostly, it's sad because up until a freak play (which has actually disrupted things WAAAYYY more than I would have imagined was possible - I didn't think that play was going to turn into this entire saga) this season HAD BEEN going quite well. However, for the time being, it hasn't turned into a full blown Chinese fire drill (i.e. 2014 Trestman Chicago Bears) just yet.

B) Even if we were that kind of a franchise? He probably still gets the New England game. If we look like we did today, at home, against New England and lose? Yeah, that's going to really be where the ice is going to break beneath us. Mathematically, our playoff hopes can't handle that loss. More so, I believe it would entirely shatter this team mentally.

Eberflus has to beat New England or else he's a dead man walking. He likely knows this. We shall see what the response is.

If they are keeping the Fluke, there has to be a co head coach offensive coordinator hired. Mid season, right now, I will throw out a name, Pete Carroll.
All Waldron is trying to do is run Petes system and calling it his own. They say Pete wants to coach again, so it could salvage this team right now to hire him as offensive coordinator with the handshake deal to be elevated if the Fluke cannot run the defensive side.
It should not technically screw up the quarterback if they are not changing systems.

Saw more negative press today about his sideline interview at halftime. Eberflus' comments were described as generic.
Bears came out after halftime and scored a total of ZERO points.
