When I said we didn't need to go out and get some overpriced veteran because Marvin Jones was gonna be a steal. I do.

Yeah.... I'll eat my crow about Jones. That kid has really learned to play NFL football. I love how tough he is.

Now, go back to patting yourself on the back.

To be fair, the chatter about a 2nd receiver was a worthy talking point last season. Look up the stats.

Marvin had a tremendous (understatement) game. But it's a little early, just as it was around this time last season.

He certainly seems to be turning the corner. It also helps that Dalton is begining to really spread that ball around and look for his 2nd/3rd options. The line is giving him time, and helping him feel confident in not locking down on just 1 WR, or for that matter, just AJ Green.

The emergence of MJ seems to be concurrent with Andy's hot streak. I think Andy's slow development was a factor in Jones' failure to emerge until the last few games. He's pretty much always been there, but Dalton was always looking for Green, with panic a second read. I know I'm more excited about the Bengals than I've been since midseason 2005.

See the section in the dalton thread from Grantland. Great read on his % of passes/accuracy to secondary WR's...goes right with what you are saying here.

Marvin said in post game news conference, regarding Dalton's recent success....

He said, if Andy is spread the ball around to his open WR's and not always locking in on AJ Green, he will be just fine.

I think Dalton has felt pressure to get the ball to Green more often, even if he is covered, because he is a superstar, and he wants to make sure he gets his touches.

However, once Jones proved he could be that go to guy, Dalton has strayed from his Green first approach and said hey, I have another guy I can look too if the coverage is not right for Green. He is still trying to get Green involved, just doesn't look like he is forcing it to him as much as he had been, or at least focusing on him as much.

Even Marvin said, Dalton needs to not worry about AJ Green and his touches, just find the best coverage matchups and go with the higher percentage target. As DFoug has said, Dalton just looks more commanding of that offense lately, walks with a swagger, willing to throw tighter coverage balls with more zip now that he is not having to do that for Green all the time.

If Jones can continue building on what he is becoming and Eifert and Gresham, along with Bernard get more active in the offense, Dalton is going to gain so much confidence that he can throw the ball to anyone and they will make a play. Once he gets that same relationship with those guys also that he is building with Jones and has built with AJ, the sky is the limit. You can tell Dalton was still focusing on Jones when Green was covered, and he needs to still open it up more in critical situations to everyone.

The stats are improving with Andy's play. Marvin Jones' talent has always been there. He's big, he's fast, and he has better hands than AJ. I think we have our #2 WR

well, my ffl curse, which has been applied to Trent Richardson, Roddy White, Colin Kaepernick (to a lesser extent), Brandon Jacobs, and reggie wayne is most likely going to be applied to Marvin Jones, ergo, as soon as he's on my fantasy team he will start sucking.

the only people that are impervious to this curse are Matt Forte and Matt Prater
