Not football related but I remember Jim Leyland smoking in the dugout in Pittsburgh back when I was a kid. A few years ago I lived in Edmond and heard good 'ol Barry smoked on the sidelines.

Pro golfers used to smoke like bandits on the tour. Lee Trevino was quoted as saying he knew he was getting old when he couldn't bum a smoke in the men's locker room.

I still remember Switzer eating that hot dog on the sidelines while he was coaching the pro bowl. Only he could get away with something like that. Lol

ya, but it was still harder to do back in that day. Outside of the university, Cleveland County was still pretty redneck back then....

In the late 70's you had head shops all around campus and even up in Moore where I first lived when I started at OU. Had more connections on the east side of Norman than you can believe...

I'm talking earlier in the decade. You have no idea.

Do you remember the houses across from the stadium on the east side? The father of a friend owned several of them and the friend lived in one of them. We'd leave at half time and go over and have some beers, and who knows what else and go back to the game for the 2nd half. A friend was a RA in Lincoln House, which was just south of the stadium and we'd head over there after the game for another round.

Was the High Horse Tavern still open when you were there? Do you remember Blue Rose Cafe?

Damn, we had us some fun back in those days...

I'm lucky to remember much. :D But yeah the houses on the east side of the stadium and those on Boyd I remember. My last two years at OU I lived just off Boyd and Jenkins a couple of blocks in some new duplexes that were built right next to the railroad tracks. I know when I went back to Norman in '95 after being gone for 10 years nothing was the same on Campus Corner except for Walter Mitty's and that convenience store around the corner from the off campus book store. The Town Tavern had been remodeled and turned into a bagel store!

They weren't on Eddington were they? We used to get on either side of the track and when the train went by throw the Frisbee back and forth over it...

Eddington was a short street about halfway between Duffy and Boyd a block east of Jenkins. The duplexes were on the south side at the end of Eddington next to the railroad track.
