Wasn't really an every down back in college and was more of a 3rd down type in the NFL. He had his moments, but never should have been drafted so high.
What? Reggie Bush was the Heisman winner and yes he should have been drafted that high!! His NFL career just never went the way that Reggie wanted it to.

Nope. Winning a Heisman doesn't mean shit in foretelling how good a player will be in the NFL. He was small and clearly couldn't take the pounding of being an every down back. At least the NFL is starting to get smarter by not drafting RB's as early as they used to (Gurley being an exception).

It was telling that he wasn't even on the field when USC needed some important first downs on the ground in the title game against Texas (Lendale White).

In 2005 was the Heisman winner, was unanious first team All-American, A.P. college player of the year, Doak Walker award winner, Pigskin club of Washington D.C. offensive player of the year and Touchdown Club of Columbus offensive player of the year. IN 2005 Reggie had a 133.85 rushing yards per game and led the nation with 222.3 all purpose yards per game.

Great college player. No doubt. NFL was a different story.

Okay fair enough, I guess you are smarter than NFL scouts.

he was running behind a great college OL against some pathetic Pac 10 defenses.
Those were some really shitty D's in the Pac-10 in those days. Good point.

That may be but I do remember people wondering could he be a 3-down player. He only had 200 carries in his biggest year in college. Most of the work load backs are closer to 300 in college. For the short yardage and goal line work they took him out most of the time.

Maybe so, but we are not scouts, apparently some scouts thought elsewise.

We need to roll back the hate on this one a bit. Reggie Bush was a good NFL running back for about 3 years and a decent rotation back for a couple of years. Thats a pretty good run.

Everyone compared him to Gale Sayers coming out. You need to break tackles to get those numbers in today's game. Look at the struggles Tavon Austin has had becoming more than just a decent player. He has been good but not breaking away from people. Defensive players are monsters in today's NFL.

White was an uber-stud in his own right in his college days.

If Reggie Bush gets hurt game 1 in 2005, LenDale White is a Heisman trophy winner. People forget that it was a true timeshare in USC between those two. It actually would have been interesting to see what would have happened if EITHER of those players received most of the snaps instead of splitting time with each other.

Indeed. My guess is that Bush would have been injured if he had more carries.

You don't remember all the insane shootouts? Nevermind, you probably don't remember what you had for breakfast.
Yeah I remember all the PAC12 "great offenses". There were some great QB's that came out of the PAC12.

It was called the Pac10 back when Bush played. You don't remember that huh?

Indeed. My guess is that Bush would have been injured if he had more carries.

He might have run off the field and slipped on some concrete and hurt himself after scoring his 30th TD. :pound:

That team was just loaded. Kalil (Carolina) at center, Baker (Falcons) at RT because he wasn't the best LT one the team at the time, Winston Justice, Chilo Rachel and Duece Lutui at guards.

All 5 of the OL in front of them went in the 1st two rounds of the NFL draft eventually.

And the defense was actually MORE talented than the offense.

And all that on a team that was playing against some weak teams in a down conference.
