Last year our run defense was decent. I'm not going to panic over what I'm seeing tonight.

Well, the defense isn't going to be that good. I fully expect them to be ranked in the bottom half of the league. They are going to be a project for the next few years.

I hope that's not the expectation around camp even though they looked that way tonight.

If you recall Warpath, our run defense was not very good early on and then settled in. Much of our run defense ranking was due to teams throwing the football at will against us.

I think if we can be a middle of the pack defense in the NFL, we should be ok. We can't have the next to last secondary defense like last year.

Well, I don't think that's ever the expectation in any camp. Even bad teams talk the "we're gonna be great." But I don't know what is that different this year from last on the D side - Orakpo is healthy and some young guys in the secondary. This team is going to win because of the offense. D is still a work in progress, but if some of the draft picks develop, maybe they add someone with the $ next year, and it can get better.

I disagree. Everyone seems to be extremely worried with this first preseason game as if we don't have 3 more to go before opening night. If we look like this after game 3, then yeah, we might have something to talk about. Ok, Orakpo over pursued and Rambo missed an open field tackle against CJ. Some people took bad angles and made some stupid mistakes. It's their first game getting out there against another team having to worry about fatigue while trying to get into 4 quarter football shape.
