Why is the question of RGIII being discussed as an either/or with respect to his future? There is another alternative to this saga. So let's sum up before taking a look at what that alternative might look like. In 2012 the team used the Baylor offense to great success albeit at great cost to their QB's health. Why? Well primarily because the shooting star masked glaring weaknesses at other positions. Not willing to pay the price for continued success in that system the QB railed and the acrimony began. He being unwilling to recognize his limitations in the pocket and the team unwilling to bolster their roster and/or give him time to relearn. The results turned into 3-13 and 4-12 seasons respectively and the injuries mounted. Truth is, the team never really needed the RGIII of 2012, nor the one that soured on that notion in subsequent seasons. What they lacked was a history major, someone who constantly reminded them that with very few exceptions, QB's only go as far as their supporting cast takes them.
Be it luck, desperation, or being in the right place at the right time, somehow Dan Snyder got wind of this and fortunately for a fan base shouting at the rooftops for normalcy in NFL terms, he's hired GM, OL coach, and QB's coach.....all major players to the success of an NFL QB.

Hey, bu....but, what about Griffin? Well, his job if all others do theirs, will be exponentially much easier to do. He doesn't have to be the 2012 model, nor the weakened models of the past two seasons. What this team forgot is that which made them once powerful, limit the opportunities for the QB to HAVE to make plays and manage the team in easily down and distant situations. Make his ability to use his legs a bonus not a necessity. Of course, he will need to do his part and work with his QB's coach just to be adequate, and not worry about being spectacular. There have been 49 Superbowls won, most of them with good game managers at the helm, 3 of them right here in DC.

most of what you say is 100% correct we dont need 2012 Rg3 and getting players around him is a must

my concern is Rg3 is so far below being a functional qb in the pocket that its hard to see if he can overcome that . if he does then we have our qb

Seriously Stymietee? The Redskins didn't give up all they did for a "game manager". Below is a link to a little refresher of how bad RG3 plays the QB position. "Game manager"...that's freakin' hilarious!!

Chris Cooley: RGIII was so bad, I cant assess the rest of the Redskins offense - The Washington Post

Yep.......seriously! !!! A quick research of winning SB QB's and it's surprising how few were superstar types and how many were just good game managers. In fact Washington has NEVER won a SB without a game manager type. If you believe that only the Bradys' of the world win SB's that's your prerogative, and I respect that. With respect to RGIII, what he showed in 2012 was not sustainable, and a primary reason why almost everyone, including him believed that his career to be a very short one if the team continued to play him in that manner. (Let's not forget that knee injury) Secondarily, NOBODY, I repeat, NOBODY, wants him to play as he has the last 2 seasons. So what's the best course of action for both he and the team long term, going forward........How about being a R. Wilson type, you know not spectacular, just effective. Would you settle for that?

BTW: C. Cooley!! On the public relations board for Dan Snyder, that C. Cooley? Now that's hilarious! !

If you think RG3's future is being "a game manager", then there is no doubt its a "no win situation" for both parties. Do you really believe Griffin's multi-million endorsement contracts will pay him to be just "a game manager'? Wow Stymie…

No way Robert accepts your endorsement of him being "a game manager"…and, no way the Redskins pay RGIII for what he thinks he is. Like I said it's a "no win situation".

…and seriously, Cooley's assessment has no value? He is a former NFL 9 year veteran, all pro, 2x pro bowler and the Redskins all time leader in receptions at tight end. How does your resume compare?
