But those ILB's will get overpaid b/c of there age not there ability. I cant see why you wouldn't want Talib. If we get him and sign Hall back we would have the best CB's in the division. Talib would be a difference maker. Plus if you draft Pryor to go along with Thomas I think we would have a great young secondary.

Look at this way. If we sign back Rak, Hall, and Riley. Add Talib and draft prospect Pryor we would have the best defense in the division. Agree?

Talib would be a great addition but I'm not so sure we really need him. Hall and Amerson were adequate starters, on occasion they were asked to cover for long periods of time, with a below average FS/SS support system.
They did very well.

ILB, RT, WR and defensive line all seem much more important to target IMO

The draft will take care of WR and ILB. RT can be Saffold. If Hall leaves then we really need him.

Thing is, I think they resign Hall. And once again I think Talib gets paid and pulls a Revis. Im not in favor of us going after the biggest name on the market, especially at the corner position.

Good article, and some good ideas. I too like the idea of bringing in a quality FA at RT. It will come at a price but for someone established and proven, it would be worth it.

Someone remind me, what type of money are we looking at spending in FA (Assuming we resign some of our key players like Rak, Riley, and Hall??) Can we afford 2 top tier FA's. RT and a quality CB??

I'm not a huge fan of Riley to be honest. In the 3-4, he is supposed to make tackles however, most of his tackles are down field, not around the LOS. I'm not calling him a bad player, just an average ILB and certainly replaceable. Haslett thinks he is not because he knows his scheme (whatever the heck that is) and is familiar with the concepts & terminology. I say bring in a FA, draft another ILB in the 3rd along with Robinson and have them fight it out for 2 spots and may the best man win. We need an upgrade at the position as its vital to our success on defense and while Fletcher was less than average last season, Riley wasn't any better imo.

Im really interested in Vincent Ray from Cincy. Had some huge tackle numbers in a few games. Starting may be asking a lot

planning for the worst i believe Rak will get franchised if we cant work a deal cant afford to lose him because you just made OLB the top need in the draft

riley should be about 3 mill and hall maybe 4 so thats 18 mil

we have 30 without any cuts so we have 2 guys at 6 mil per or some combo of that

i am not a talib fan . he has skills but his character is a huge issue . i cant see him leaving a good thing with the pats . plus he has never played a full season

If any of them can play ST's then keep them.........otherwise buh-bye.

BTW: maybe Tyler Polumbus should share that X-box one and raise with MS, No other coach would think it wise to play him.

This could be a good news/bad new scenario for Polumbus. On the other hand, an extra half a million in salary is always nice. The bad news is that now the team could save almost a full million dollars against the cap if they replace Polumbus on the roster with a draft pick or a first- or second-year player.
It’s great to make a nice salary in the NFL. But if you’re a marginal player who is making too much money you’re putting a target on your back.

Polumbus is all but gone unless he takes the minimum to stay as a backup.
