The Sox take a big lead while I'm watching a DVD from a nearby library that's longer
than I thought it was.

Better than tuning in and finding them trailing.

BTW, the DVD was the original Walter Matthau movie, "The Odd Couple" Which is much better than the TV series based on it a few years later. It's definitely worth acquiring if you can find a copy!

1st half: .192/.228/.389, 9:60 BB:K in 216 PA
2nd half: .357/.427/.583, 10:19 BB:K in 96 PA

Small sample size of course, but it's encouraging.

The latter is what I expect from Middlebrooks.

We fell behind even with Lester starting? That's NOT what I expect!

Not Lester's best performance by any means, but he had a good game. Gives the bullpen some much needed rest.

I'd be shocked if Middlebrooks came even remotely close to hitting like that in a season. I think at best he'll be a .270/.330/.520 kind of guy. Which is still quite good.

Lester's going to be better than this more often than not.

This Red Sox fan wants to bless Rivera for blowing those saves and curse Ichiro
for delaying the day the Sinstripes are mathematically eliminated from the post-season.!
