Red Sox At Giants Series, August 18, 19, and 20.

This series pits the Red Sox against one of the two teams I would most like
to see win the N. L. pennant. The other being the Cubs. I'm a sucker for those ivy covered
walls, okay?

Tonight Jon Lester goes against Timothy LeRoy Lincecum (who's full name I only learned via websurfing
a minute ago).

At 29 Lincecum has already been on the N. L. All-Star roster 4 times. Does it really matter that he
only got into 1 of those games?

In this match-up it looks like the "Under" would be a good vCash bet, doesn't it?

Tonight Jake Peavy (1.222 season WHIP, 3.67 K/BB ratio) is matched up
with Ryan Vogelsong (1.750 season WHIP, 1.96 K/BB)

The opposing starter's last name, BTW, is German for "songbird" if my memory
is not malfunctioning.

I like Salty but don't like the way we've overworked him the last few weeks,
so I'm glad to see Ross doing the catching tonight.

Can Bogaerts live up to the hype he's gotten? We'll start finding out tonight.
This will be his MLB debut, won't it? And on a more whimsical note does he know
anything about the "Buffy" character, Xander Harris, who was played by Nicholas Brendon?

Yeah I did. I only heard part of how it happened on the radio this am. It was a "clear" blown call?

What I don't get is why Peavy was taken out of the game

Tonight Felix Doubront is matched against Barry Zito, who is not very
popular on the Giants forum ae the moment.

Zito's season WHIP of 1.693 could well account for that. Doubront's season number,
1.463 is mediocre as well but better than Zito's.

We're still on a pace to win 93 regular season games despite last night's disappointment,
and have the numerically superior starter on our side. Neither starter is a Cy Youg candidate,
so both bullpens should get plenty of work, and 10-9 is a lot more likely than a shutout either way.

Still far from expecting a CG from him, but wouldn't expect our bullpen to blow a 5 run lead
in the remaining innings.
