21 kids with the kind of season they had is pretty good. I wish they had landed at least one CB but they did get a bunch last year. The good thing about the kids they landed is that nearly all of are ranked as a 4 star on one site or another with the exception of the kicker.
We got the 2 but no surprise pick. Yeast turned us down. Holmes mention about a surprise pick. It never happen.Kofi Wardlow, and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah are the only ones I know of unless they have someone else?
Some of these 3 stars should of been 4 stars but because they didn't travel teams scouts didn't know much about them. Suppose we landed one of the best OLB pass rushers in the country.21 kids with the kind of season they had is pretty good. I wish they had landed at least one CB but they did get a bunch last year. Overall solid class. We didn't go Bust this year at the end and actually picked up some good players. Overall happy with what this staff did.

considering the season they had you really couldn't have asked for much more.Overall good job by the new staff and Kelly to keep a top 15 class.
Rivals and Scout both list ND at #13, which isn't too bad considering the season we had and the issues with the staff. Kelly says that the new normal for ND would expect a class to rank 5-15 on the list. There is a big difference between #5 and #15. I would be OK with a consistent ranking between 5-8 with an occasional #13, but I hate the idea that he thinks #13 is a good or even decent job.
Rumor is a grad student is coming to ND. He suppose to be a play maker. Interesting to see who and where this player is coming from.
What I really hate listening to the podcasts and message boards is how high coaches are on certain players. They are constantly talked up in the off-season and then boom. You NEVER see them sniff the field during games.Saw an interesting stat related to ND recruiting. In the first 4 years of BK in ND, they signed 14 DL commits. In the last 4 years, they signed 22 DL commits.
Signing more is good, but we don't often seem to land DL commits that are considered elite. When you look at the DL commits for Bama, LSU, OSU, FSU,Clemson, etc., it's easy to see why they are often among the top rated teams towards the end of most seasons (maybe with the exception of LSU more recently). However, most of LSU's issues have been on the offensive side of the ball.
Anyway, hopefully this new defensive staff and scheme will bring out the best in every player. Recent track record gives me hope that they will.
GO IRISH!
I want all 6 of the non-commited kids pretty bad. I'm glad to hear it went well.Little update on the 2018 Class. So far ND is killing it. ND just had their small Jr day with a lot of Top recruits. Kelly and the staff invited their top players on their board and word is ND Staff killed it. Elko has been very impressive to the defensive guys. ND class has 6 commits already and don't be surprise if they add to it this week. Word is the commits are working hard and want to make this a special class. Some think leading up to the season ND can have a Top 10 or maybe a top 5 class. Winning will help this class. ND will be able to take about 20 commits in this class.
