Maybe Sark can get some pointers from his old pal on how to change a players jersey at half time or deflate footballs.
I have no idea what happened to Tee Shepard. They don't usually give out the details the way they used to. I remember back when Carson Palmer got turned down by ND. It was a huge thing because everyone thought he was going to be a star. I think it was a big embarrassment for Carson, now they don't release any info regarding the reason that a player drops out or transfers. As for Teo, everyone I know said while he wasn't the smartest kid in school, he was a really hard worker, and I guess that what you want in one of your football players.
Manti was a first team academic all American. As was Pat Haden from SC. My guess is that both of them were pretty bright. Pat was there in a different generation, and I'm obviously not in a position to say which one is smarter, but I want to go on record as stating that I would never suggest that Manti is smarter just because he went to ND. At this point I'll just say they both did pretty well in school.
But Haden works for the USC athletic department which can't be a good thing for him right?

I don't think anyone said he passed with flying colors and I doubt Manti studied any thing as difficult as Architecture at Notre Dame. He was a first team Academic All American his senior year but that could have been more about the hype machine and the fact that he went to Notre Dame than anything else. However to suggest the kid has nothing but rocks rolling around in his head like you are is wrong. I'm guess you are more pissed that the ended up at Notre Dame than anything else.

LOL. So Manti was academic all American while spending hundreds of hours on the phone at night with ..... well you know who. And this is supposed to make me think he's a smart cookie and think those were some challenging courses he was taking to get that GPA? Yeah, not really impressed considering Manti wouldn't have qualified to go to ND with his SAT scores. What I mean by that is his score was High enough to get a football player in to Notre dame but no way if he was just you're regular student trying to get in. . Both of them "are pretty bright" but you're "not in a position to say which one is smarter'? LOL. Look up Magna Cum Laude or Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford , degrees in Philosophy, economics, politics and Law and smart enough to be partner and be managing director of a law firm with a former Mayor of Los Angeles. Yeah tough one to call.
Didn't Brian Kelly go see Belichick a few years back to get pointers on? Illegally filming the other teams signals?
1. I was disappointed he chose ND instead of USC just like you were probably disappointed Juju picked USC but
that was five years ago. Five years later I can't imagine him playing anywhere else than ND and I think he picked the right school for him. He told Pete the night before he was going to sign with SC so it was a close one. I never bashed him for going to ND and I certainly am not "still pissed he ended up there"
2. I never said he :"had rocks in his head" . He was a good kid with a GPA and SAT that wouldn't have gotten him into ND or USC unless he was a getting in as a football player. That's just a fact with most players not just him.
3. the fact that he got a high GPA his senior year given he had all that comes along with football. Plus he was a middle linebacker so I assume he had to look at film on his own because he was the QB of the defense . Now add all those hours every night he spent on the phone with that person and and you have a lot of hours he couldnt study that a normal student at ND would normally have. And this guy got a high GPA? Sorry but that adds up to courses that wern't very difficult. You can disagree but that's why we have message boards.

Yet after all that, he can't get a job and ends up working in the athletic department of the school he played football at. I believe you were the one who stated that that path was proof of failure. Have you changed your mind on that? I guess if an SC football player does it, it's a good thing. If an ND player does it it's a bad thing.
I guess one other possibility is that he was extremely smart. I realize that you find it hard to believe that someone could get good grades while playing football and spending a lot of time on the phone, but that probably says more about you than it does about him.
Your athletic director was the former color commentator for Notre Dame football games, just saying.
