Personally I think people are blowing the Els quote up a bit more than it should be. By nature Coaches are taught to be more tight lipped to the media when it comes to recruiting so they talk around issues and use vague terms. In a previous interview Els had stated that they didn't send anyone to Florida the first BYE week because they were going to hit it hard the second BYE week which I think will come to fruition.

The other thing about his quote is that sometimes you have the plan and you get down to deciding between two different trips, "Coach Brown... should we send you to Arizona or Cal? We don't have time for both. You know the relationship you have with the recruits in both those areas which would need it most? It's up to you." So then that assistent coach has to think about which one would be more beneficial. It's not a cluster-*&%$, and it's not really disorganized, but it can seem that way on the outside looking in.

The problem for me is actually that Pelini will not be on the road this time. I take issue with that. As a HC during a BYE you should always be on the road, especially to your top targets. I take issue with that more than I do with Els' "I don't know" comment.

You don't need to send the HC to recruit the mid major players that no big AQ programs offer. Nebraska is the best offer they'll get.

They may not get coached up here, but they'll have nice facilities and get to play on tv.

I can understand it's an off the wall comment, but just not what I would've liked to hear about the state of our recruiting, from the RC no less. With a class about half filled I see maybe 2 or 3 more prospects on the fence to committing right now. As hard as it it to recruit to the NE I hope they're taking it a bit more seriously than that

Nebraska is content with taking the easy way out by going affter "the best of the rest" in hopes of finding a few diamonds in the rough. If there was decent coaching at the top down in Lincoln they wouldn't be where they are.

Els, on where the coaches would go to recruit this bye week, kindof a big deal I think

With the current state of our class I was hoping for a little more enthusiasm from our RC, wtf is going on over there?

Good lord. I hope next time he'll answer "no comment" vs. sounding clueless.

Sure looks like Mosely might be going the OU route... but Jason Hall already decommitted earlier in the year to commit to Texas.
