Been a while since I've done one of these. I'm usually pretty dialed into the recruiting world, and it's a bye week. I just updated the "commit" list HERE

But I thought I would open up the thread for recruiting questions... it can be about 2014 prospects, 2015 prospects or our current commits. Just thought it would be fun. I'll do my best to sound knowledgable.

Also, do you think Monte Harrison actually makes it here?

you think Mosley will stick with us?

I do. If you follow him on Twitter is all about the Big Red. Went to a Baylor game a few weeks ago with some friends but didn't like it enough to sway him from Nebraska. He's also working on his teammate Chance Waz to switch his commitment from Colorado to Nebraska. Both will be in town for the Michigan State game. Mosley is one of the best cover corners in Texas right now but lacks in size and physicality. Josh Mitchel, but a little bit bigger. Very talented young man, glad he's on our team.

I think there's a chance. But it's a slim chance. The wildcard here is Darin Erstad. Monte Harrison loves him as a coach and would value learning from a former All-Star before heading to the big leagues. However, he'll get a lot of money thrown at him. Right now he says he wants to go to college and play both (which, if he does, he could end up getting drafted in baseball AND football by the end of his career). He's a top 50 baseball player so he'll go in the first few rounds. He's not as highly touted as Starling was, so he won't go in that Top 10 but he'll go.

It really all relies on Erstad, if he can somehow talk him into spurning the MLB and developing here to make more money and a bigger splash in the major leagues we have a chance. One of the things Nebraska has going for it is actually Bubba Starling. Starling has been dreadful in the minor leagues, Nebraska could point to that and say "would you rather struggle or succeed? If you put off the money for just a few more years you'll get paid AND be successful." It's a difficult pitch to make, and i would be surprised if it works.

Well, if I had to rank them talent wise I would rank them as such:

1. Tanner Famer
2. Monte Harrison
3. Peyton Newell
4. DJ Foster
5. Zack Darlington (assuming he plays again)
6. Trai Mosely
7. Freedom Akinmoladun
8. Larenzo Stewart
9. Mick Stoltenberg
10. Demorney Pierson-El
11. Joshua Kalu
12. Drew Brown
13. Luke Gifford

And could you expand on the second question? You mean, what prospects I think will commit soon?

I meant local Nebraska boys from Nebrsaka high schools.. my bad on the wording

ahh... well. I don't think so. Kenzo Cotton is fast but not a football player. Mikiah Slade is a decent athlete but not BCS caliber. Easten Stick is a good QB but if we get Flowers there's no way he gets an offer. I'd say we're done in state for now.

I just read Pelon cancelled his trip to Lincoln, yet I'm unsurprised. Coaches better pick up those sticks with our second bye week upon us. wtf

This is something that has baffled me. We are going to be really thin at CB next year but we haven't really pursued and JUCO CBs just yet. I think we do end up offered a few and signing one but it's tough to tell who that would be just yet. As for Shyquan Pulliam, he signed with Penn State in 2010 and then transfered to Kentucky. Is he recruitable? I didn't know.

edit: Just saw the offer to Pulliam, sorry about being late on the draw with this one. 3-star from what I can tell. 2 for 2 guy. Only JUCO CB offer that i'm aware of.

I've heard this too. I knew this would be a battle with Tosh Lupoi on the scene but Nebraska had been in good position here. The Huskers will likely stop by during the bye week to try to talk him into at least visiting. Remember, Terrell Newby almost committed to Cal before the Husker staff talked him into BRW... then that was all she wrote. I think Pelon still ends up visiting. Don't suspect we will go down without a fight, but fighting against Lupoi in recruiting is hard.

Els, on where the coaches would go to recruit this bye week, kindof a big deal I think
“This week there was some gray area of (assistants) really not deciding where they wanted to go until the last minute,” Els said. “There were either options or it was a situation where we said … I don’t know. It was just different for some reason of being a little bit unsure on where to go. I guess I don’t know why.”

With the current state of our class I was hoping for a little more enthusiasm from our RC, wtf is going on over there?

man, i hope that's just Els not knowing how to talk to the media. It's very unusual to have 2 bye weeks in a season so they probably planned and hit a lot of territory in the 1st bye week and just didnt' do a good job setting up for this one. At least I'd hope that's why guys don't know where they want to go as they made visits just a few weeks ago. Seems to me it could never hurt to get back down to TX or FL or out to CA.

Probably why Nebraska is looking for another RC.

Although, last year's class was pretty good.

I have been on the Tanner Farmer bandwagon since he committed. That is a good young man, from a good family. Smart too. A future Academic All American and Football All American.

Here is what I wrote on June 16 on ESPN

"BRW Farmer, Foster, and Stoltenberg
Nice offensive line talent. Stoltenberg is OL, DL, or a TE. Foster and Stoltenberg are the top two Nebraska players.

But of those three, I like Farmer the best. How can you not like the State Champion wrestler on the offensive line? Tanner Farmer was 39-0 and the heavyweight champion in Illinois High School. Wrestlers are nasty strong in close up contests. Add in the fact that Tanner Farmer is a very good student and I see another Academic All American. Farmer is attending the Michigan State camp, so he is going to be able to do a very good comparison of the schools."
