A lot of the injuries occur when people go to the window to see what the flash was. The shock wave that follows takes a minute or two (depending on distance) to reach you and the wave will blow out windows after the sonic boom does.

I don't believe we could stop anything that comes towards earth from space. I watched this show last night about comets, meteors & asteroids. It was first shown in 2006. They were saying they can detect all kinds of things back then & make sure everyone in the need to know, knew about it. It's great that people might know about these things before they happen, but it's a completely different matter in terms of stopping them. Nobody knew anything about this & many people got hurt.:sad:

By the way, I posted the "I want to believe" picture before knowing the story. I thought it was just another Russians seeing UFOs story.
