You don’t think part of the reason for those statistics are that when back ups are in, the defense focuses more on passing? I would be curious as to what the passing statistics look like with the starter in vs the back up.

Or what happens when the backup has to start because the feature back is injured.

Seems to me like All Runningbacks matter regardless of where they're at on the depth chart.

It is a valid point.

No statistic is context proof, though. I'm not saying this is a "perfect" set of data. However, it is pretty well thought out and interesting.

It is... nothing like that.

An analogy that gets you closer would be something like points per minute.

the one thing this doesnt account for, is skill set outside of simply carrying the ball. thats like 1/3 of a RB's job these days.
