My friend is under the impression that the endgame in T.O is for Carlyle to get canned the second shit hits the fan this winter and Bylsma to be the replacement. Plausible, if nothing else. You gotta figure Bylsma is the first in-season hire regardless where it happens.

Agreed. However, the idea of Blysma in Toronto makes me laugh a bit. I can't imagine being in that market. Considering what I think the Leafs biggest issues have been, I'm not sure he'd fix much of those.

The problem with Dan Bylsma is like Randy Carlyle, he doesn't play the younger guys enough - you would think a younger coach like Dan Bylsma would but he doesn't - the reason the Leafs are mediocre is that the younger guys don't get enough PT and that hurts them, playing goons and useless players over younger guys is one of the things that continues to keep them down

Yep. I mentioned that in my theory earlier: think DB plays guys that remind him of him.

That might have been one of the reasons the Panthers passed on him - Gerard Gallant is more committed to the younger players - that being said, the Panthers roster is mainly young so Dan Bylsma might not have had any choice, but regardless, there are things there that are concerning

Willie Desjardins would have actually been a good fit in Toronto because he seems like someone who could cultivate a relationship with the younger players

Some Leaf execs and coaches will tell you that injuries to McLaren and Orr and losing Leo Komarov to the KHL did the team in. I'm not even fucking with you.

Yep. Watched a lot of the Stars-Marlies series, and was very impressed with how he handled the team.

Then again, I was impressed by Eakins, too, so...

I actually thought Leo Komarov was decent for his role but yeah in general, they'll give you bad excuses for why they went in the dumps - it's ridiculous

It wouldn't work. Just no chance.

I liked Komarov, was pissed when he left.

Leo Komarov isn't why the team is terrible. The fact they have 3 or 4 talented hockey players is.

No. No no no no no. Both need to face a firing squad.

I'm not a Wilson fan, but if he'd gotten the goaltending that Carlyle has gotten he'd have had a way better winning % than Carlyle has.

The problem is that they're letting Randy have input and affect decisions until then though. If they've actually decided he's not going to be the guy he should either be canned now or stripped of power now. Neither has happened, instead they're seemingly going to try to give him a roster that he likes better and let him continue to enact his systems.

They're not going to hire someone without NHL head coaching experience. Stupid I know, but I think that's a certainty.

No no, you're forgetting the script. It was losing Dave Bolland to injury that screwed them. Who knew that a 3rd line centre was such a big difference maker?

Wasn't that the whole idea last summer? Isn't that why Grabovski is a UFA for the second straight summer?

Most importantly, isn't that why David Clarkson's a Leaf?

Yes and yes.

They're doubling down on RandyPuck. I suspect it will go about as well as the first round of it did.

Can you say 8 year contract?

It's not even really a joke at this point, you know as well as I do that it's gonna happen.

If it does, I might have to take a break from this team. I might have to anyway.
