Canucks A-
They pretty much stole the show.

gains:
Bonino - a downgrade on 2nd line center, but not as much as some may think. a an asset on the rise
Sbisa - a reclamation project. a highly talented reclamation project, but the jury is out for now
Vey - wow, this was a nice surprise. age fits right in that wheelhouse of upcoming talent.
Virtanen - going to be a very good player. has all the tools
McCann - scouts have given him top 5 rating in hockey smarts. nice pick up.
Thatcher Demko - great name, and by all accounts a very talented goalie
Nikita Tryamkin - 6'7 230 pound defenseman at 19. shot in the dark, but if it hits.....
Brassard - ugh. need to keep up the asshole quotient, I guess. The sole reason for the minus in the grade.
$4 million cap space

losses:
Kesler - Can be a star, but hasn't been. declining asset who wanted out. so long.
Garrison - too bad, i still kind of liked him. Tanev Corrado Stanton ready for bigger roles

Flyers B+

Adds:
Travis Sanheim - He can be a steal at 17, comparable is Ryan McDonagh and Jay Bouwmeester
Nicolas Aube-Kubel - Gives them more depth in the system at forward, he has good potential
Mark Friedman - Another d-man that has a chance in the future
Oskar Lindblom - I thought this was a steal too, could have went in 2nd round, actually goes in 5th
Radel Fazleev - Played on the same team as Travis Sanheim, has some potential
Jesper Pettersson - I like his potential as a stay at home d-man, not flashy but steady

Didn't make any trades either on draft day which I'm glad about - now let's see if they can move Vinny soon

Without a first rounder the Sens did pretty well. B-

I liked the 2nd and 3rd round picks. They picked up two guys who have very valuable but different skillsets.

I like their later round picks as well.

Grade falls to a B- for not getting a good deal for Spezza. I'm glad they didn't take just any deal but I want this thing done and buried.

I'll give the Flames a solid B - Love the Bennett pick, not crazy about Mason McDonald (really, another goalie, we need more D in the system), but Hunter Smith at 6'7" was a nice pick. I like the Bollig trade (I really need to put some idiots who post at Calgarypuck on ignore). So overall, a good weekend for baby dragon and Burkie.

I'm shocked they didn't take Thatcher Demko over Mason McDonald though

Sabres - A

Even though they lost the lottery, and ended up with the 2nd overall pick, they still got the guy they wanted all along in Reinhart. Then they follow it up by taking Brendan Lemieux, who spent most of his interview talking about how pissed he is for not going in the 1st Round, and name dropping like a mofo.

It was clear that the Sabres were focused on players who can score and produce offensive, as they then selected Eric Cornel and Vaclav Karabacek in the 2nd Round after Lemieux.

Overall, the Sabres are continuing to stock their cupboard with as many young players as they can to help build a nice, solid core for years to come. I'm really liking the job the Sabres have done so far, and I'm really looking forward to the future.

I know the draft just ended, but I can't wait till next year's draft.

Kings B-
Didnt have a lot to work with with high picks.
Lost Vey for a low second. Not much chance he would make the Kings with their depth at center.
Made a bunch of safe picks but didn't need to make a splash.
Got guys who fit the mold

Jackets - Solid C.

Their top pick could be kind of exciting to watch, but haven't seen a lot of scouting on him that says much about his heart, only his flash. A few years at BC hopefully will serve him well.

With the exception of Ryan Collins, they got relatively small guys. I've heard some good things about Collins. Raw, but potential. Pretty much no offensive upside, but big and positionally sound. A shutdown guy. Which they can always use. Might turn out to be the Jackets most useful pick. The system develops D men.

The rest of the draft was just pretty "there". Plus = A Latvian Goalie. PlusPlus = His name is Elvis.

Last year was the draft that the Jackets are hanging their hat on. Three home runs.

Devils - Status Quo.

Can't complain. Lucky to get a draft pick in first round.

They were lucky to get a pick in the first round but their draft was flat out pathetic and a lot of Devils fans will say the same thing - David Conte, the head scout of the Devils, is past his prime - they need find someone new - they keep picking the same type of players, makes no sense anymore

Yea but picking 30th and then beyond, not like they could find a difference maker. I hope this Quenneville turns out to be a Henrique. Can't really complain much if that turns out to be true.
No realistic Devil fan thought the team would improve Friday night unless some major trade happened.

Kings have been drafting late every year and find gems - they got Roland McKeown at 50, who should have gone in the first round - Devils just aren't doing a good enough job - there are plenty of gems later on in the draft, or at the very least, players who can be solid 2nd-3rd-4th line players on your team going forward

If you look at their drafts, since the lockout, 21 of their drafted players have appeared in at least one game, only 7 of them are still in the organization - Stefan Matteau, Adam Larsson, Reid Boucher, Jon Merrill, Eric Gelinas, Adam Henrique and Mark Fayne - and it looks like Mark Fayne will be gone too, so the Devils have done a bad job, and it's not like they've been going deep into the playoffs since the lockout either, so there's no excuse to not find decent players at where they've been picking most of the time

6'7 d-man, could potentially be scary - I like that type of pick, they're trying to accumulate flat-out talented players, that's what you have to do in the draft

Sens second round pick Andreas Englund is being compared by scouts to a prime Volchenkov with better skating.

Ummm...Yes please.

My favorite pick of ours was Keegan Iverson, big Center, plays physical, reminds me of Andrew Shaw. We'll see.
