Meh.

Certainly can't hurt- as you said, he was our best CB last year. He also took reps at safety during training camp, so it makes sense to bring him back if for nothing else but injury protection...

A little overpriced, but needed. Now a CB isn't desperately needed for this year - a draft pick can develop for a year before being thrown to the wolves.

How much cap space is left after this, though?

Lol, I'm just joking on those figures- I have no idea what the deal was.

It better be less than half of what I listed, though...

He made 940k last year. Hopefully his raise isn't up to $3.3 mil

:laugh3: I fell for it. I don't pay enough attention to what each player makes and was thinking 2 years @ 2.5 would be about right. I didn't realize he only made 940K last year.

1 year, $3.3 million

I actually laughed when I read this -- then looked at the post from others and started thinking, no way they gave him 3.3 million. Then I was relieved to see you were joking.

Well -- at least we got our #1 CB for another year on the cheap.

I like it. Hopefully we don't have to sign anyone else over the age of 50 at the position.

Looks like ageism raises its ugly head again. As Ronald Reagan put it, I won't hold my opponent's youth and inexperience against him.

Cornerback Rashean Mathis got $500,000 of his $955,000 base salary guaranteed for this fall in the one-year deal he signed with the Lions earlier this week. Mathis also received a $65,000 signing bonus, the maximum for a player on a veteran benefit contract which allows the team to count him against the salary cap at a reduced rate.

BB_72... Good signing. Nearly the same as last year. I'm glad to have him back
