I fell for it. I don't pay enough attention to what each player makes and was thinking 2 years @ 2.5 would be about right. I didn't realize he only made 940K last year.

Cornerback Rashean Mathis got $500,000 of his $955,000 base salary guaranteed for this fall in the one-year deal he signed with the Lions earlier this week. Mathis also received a $65,000 signing bonus, the maximum for a player on a veteran benefit contract which allows the team to count him against the salary cap at a reduced rate.
