Got me the most points in last years bust league. That jerk.

Basically. .if i take Andrew Luck #1 and Brian Hoyer #20.. And you take Hoyer #1 And Luck #10, And Hoyer finishes #15, And Luck finishes 3rd, you get more points, for taking the chance and getting somewhat close even though technically my rankings were closer to the truth.
That's not a definitive example, but you get the jest

No reason to reward chance taking. Whoever has the best list should win. Period.

I'm not buying all of the preseason blurbs. Who may be cut. Who is taking reps with the first team.
Preseason is for evaluation.
All of these beat writers and their opinions just muddy the waters in my opinion.

Take Latavius Murray. I guess I have him pretty high for now.
In 2016 he did just miss finishing in the top 12.
Plus he did sign a 3 year contract in March. One month before the NFL draft.
Cook may be a good back, but you don't sign a guy that good in March hoping to land his replacement in April.

Well,

The flip side of that coin is that the Vikings, a team with many holes on offense, aren't spending a second round pick on Cook if they think Murray is their guy.

My bet is that they had a first round draft grade on Cook. They didn't plan to take him at all. But, when he fell to round 2, he was the best player on the board and they got him.
