Mariota? Why do you think he is top 5?

I thought a better question to ask @tedman2012 was he if overlooked Wilson or purposefully kept him off the list. Cause not listing Wilson in your top 5 off of that list means your opinion doesn't count anymore.

I think that is what impressed me most was his calmness under pressure and ability to keep his eyes down the field looking for an opening.

That he does have. But our OL is working hard to get it beat out of him at this point. Lol.

What has been going on with Matt Kalil? He had such a promising rookie year if I remember right but just hasn't lived up to that hype since. I watched a play from this last week that they broke down just showing the false steps that he takes where he easily got beat to the inside.

I think he will get there. He was the one QB that seemed to have decent success against the Broncos this year. I guess that is the one main game I have seen him play so I was left impressed. In fact he is the only QB to have gone for over 250 yards against them this entire season.

That's similar to what had me higher on Carr than most. I didn't watch much of him playing overall, but I did see the game he played against the Seahawks. He didn't look over-awed or out of his depth at all. Made good decisions, seemed to be a leader. Played pretty well.

I get putting Dalton lower in a 'regressing to the mean' way, but as of right now, today, Dalton has to be #1.

I don't expect a response to my question to tedman, unless he is pouring over Mariota's stats to see if there might be something that looks good.
Now, that you mention it I noticed he is a Colts fan. Colt's fans cannot admit that RW is a fine QB because that might put him above the turnover machine they root for.

He has also been given more talent to work with than any QB. Its basically the Matt Ryan argument all over again.

Sure, he has talent, but in the game against the Hawks it wasn't WR's open by a mile, it was WR's open by a half step, and Dalton dropping the ball PERFECTLY over shoulders 30 and 40 yards downfield.

The guy has been lights out, AND has been lights out when games have gone against them.

I've been waiting for bad Andy to raise his head all year, and maybe he will in the playoffs, but the guy is playing really, really well right now. MVP discussion well.

Yeah I couldn't quite put Dalton in my top-5. Yes he is having a phenomenal year but I just need to see him do it in the big games. Not saying the rest on my list have done that but we have seen Dalton crumble when they need him to be at his best. And like you said the weapons he has this year are just down right impressive.

He has yet to play a primetime game. This Thursday will be his first of the year if I remember right.

I can only do a top 5. The others have either had no degree of success or are rookies.
1. Russell Wilson-Has had the most success by far.
2. Cam Newton-Is this his best year?
3. Andy Dalton-Getting closer to success, improving yearly.
4. Andrew Luck-Seems to be regressing. TO master.
5. Derek Carr-No playoffs yet. Are they coming?

And like I said upthread, you're lowering him on a 'he'll come back to the mean' scale. Which is fine. I wouldn't be surprised to see him do just that. But so far, no signs of it. He seems to be thriving on extra pressure, not wilting. We'll see.

If we're doing this based on performances against Seattle then Im ranking Nick Foles

I guess to me I look at the entire career not just the right here and now. If that were the case then Luck would have to be near the bottom of the list with how he has played this year. Career wise though his Colts have made the playoffs every single year and he has had a season finishing pretty much top-5 in every QB stat there is (last year). He is also I think only 1 of 3 QB's to have won a playoff game with Cam and Wilson the other 2.

Okay, I laughed. Watched the Steelers/Cincy game too, and he impressed me there too.

Yeah, I got ya. Don't disagree. That's why I was careful to put the 'right now' part in my post.

Not sure why. He had his worst game of the season by far in that one. If that is what impresses you for a QB then I recommend you up your standards.
