At this point, I'd rather watch the Cowboys suck than the Rangers. I'll catch you guys tomorrow.

Mitch just got called out on that high strike which Dempster wasn't getting in that 3rd inning. This ump is all over the place.

Well at least the Rangers didn't have to give up top prospects for Dumpster. Two putrid outings in 3 games

No question he has been a dissapointment. He never had to face these kind of good hitting teams in the NL. Hopefully there is enought time for him to get adjusted to the AL so he is ready for October

he struggled in his last few starts with the cubs too. so im not sure his struggles can be completely due to switching leagues. my opinion is that the 2012 pre all star break dempster was more of an aborration than a constant. its rare that a pitcher finally figures it out at 35. he has always been a solid pitcher. i just think the ryan dempster that we should expect is closer to the one he has been most of his career (solid) and not the 3 month stud of earlier this season.

Yeah I watched his last start as a Cub against the Pirates. He went 6 gave up 3 runs and two of those were Hrs, and he struggled against the Cardinals prior to that.
Your right he has been solid thru out his career with only one season where he pitched over 200 innings with an era under 3.00. For the most part his era in his career has hovered a little over 4. I would be happy if we can get 7 innings and 3 runs earned from him in Texas and that would put him at just about where he has been in his career as a starter

Dempster is much better than his 2 bad outings with the Rangers have shown. His great numbers in the NL were for sure exaggerated due to pitching in the NL. And a rise in ERA should have been expected due to him being a fly ball pitcher moving to Arlington. He is no ace by any stretch, but I still think he'll be a nice #2 or #3 the rest of the way. You have to consider that his 2 stinkers were against an Angels offense which was red-hot at the time on a hot day in Arlington when the balls were flying off the bats, and against a slugging Yankees lineup in the Bronx. And tonight he really only had the one bad inning where he couldn't locate, fell behind hitters, and got squeezed on a few calls. I know that the Yankees (and maybe Angels) are playoff teams so we should expect Dempster to beat them. But I think he can beat them when he's on.

I still think he can be a pretty reliable starter for the Rangers. He's got some much easier matchups ahead where I think he'll put up better numbers.

Dempster was brought in to eat innings and pitch decently, if you expected anything more, you were delusional

Granted he's not providing the latter yet, but he'll settle in, and expect something closer to an ERA of 4.00 than 2.00, he has never been nor will he ever be an ace

I think the rangers would be happy to get 6 innings and 3 runs out of him every start for an ERA of 4.5

Right now, that even seems like a pipe dream. He pitched good against Boston saying he had faced them before and was familiar with them.

With that thinking, why not just put him in moth balls now, hope the Rangers get back to the series and then dust him off so he can pitch against the NL again.

Seriously, he just probably has to find his comfort zone and settle in but let's hope it sooner than later.

Which is fine. We desperately needed a solid innings eater to get through the season.

I expect 6-7 innings 1-3 earned runs each start for dempster i think his era will end up at low 3s to mid 3s by seasons end

Young hasn't had a day off since June 10th. Wash needs to be fired.
