Our offense has improved some, but we are still having trouble scoring. One reason we have had trouble scoring is because Marcus Semien keeps coming up with runners in scoring position. He has been very bad this year. He needs to be hitting 8th or 9th, but Bochy is too stubborn.

I have really grown tired of hearing about the back of baseball cards being used as an excuse to ignore when players go into slumps. Or rather, I should say, when veteran players go into slumps. It is time to quit looking at the back of baseball cards and start looking at what is staring you in the face. Also, while the back of the baseball card is being looked at, don't forget to pay attention to the top of the back of the card. That is where you will find the date of birth, which can tell you as much or more than the stats below that date.

This series against a good Tigers team could be an ugly one. It seems almost a given that the Rangers will lose the Opener against Skubal. We do have favorable pitching matchips in the last 2 games. It all depends on if we can start hitting with runners in scoring position and if we can start hitting more hime runs.

Let's give credit where credit is due. Joc Pederson has been much better of late. In his last 3 games he is 4 for 6 with 4 walks and 2 doubles. However, it didn't take Bochy hitting him way too high in the order to get that done. That isn't going to turn Semien around either.

As we head through May, it seems our injured players are continuing to make progress. Sborz, Gray, and Bradford have all advanced in the rehab without any setbacks so far. It will be a nice problem to get those 3 guys back and see how we can fit them in.

At this juncture, it is hard to see where this team will be at, at the trade deadline. This year, there will be no White Sox team to face right before the deadline to give the front office a false hope. Will we be buyers or sellers? Maybe this weekend will give us a glimpse of what kind of team this team really is.

Whether we sweep or get swept. Not sure we can say for sure where we stand. Some batting improvement but our pen will need help

This is the second year in a row that Semien has been very bad. Bochy just can’t see the handwriting on the wall.

Semien makes 24m per year. It is a terrible contract that will be a problem at least through the 2027 season. Bochy sees it but won't bench him.

He is done. He helped the Rangers win a World Series. That will garner some loyalty. Still a good 2nd baseman.

But too much money to release or trade. Rangers in a pickle. Unless he can hit at least .240 or so with some power he will be a weak link for this lineup. Bury him at 8 or 9. That's all that can be done.

Not a fan of this move unless he gives Marcus some days off

Yeah Marcus needs a few days off to go to the cages and get himself straightened out, he seems to have gotten very "pull happy"...

Either that or he has gotten too old.

Langford, Heim, Garcia and Semien have hit Skubal in their at bats against him so far. Past performance is no guarantee of the future.

Ok, He had 2 hits in a couple games this month but hadn’t done that since last August. That’s a lot of games and AB’s in between since doing that.

If Semien is aging out then Pedersen might be too.

It is hard enough facing Skubal, but if the umpire is going to make calls like those, things are going to go really bad.
