An ESPN article worth the read. The article puts a lot of emphasis on sloppy defense, slumping offense and miscues on the base paths. I think that is all obvious, but the Wolf start on Saturday still tells us we need another starting arm in the rotation. Holland giving up 3 ERs and Perez (youngster still) did fine and kept the team in the game.

Of course we are all hoping our great Rangers will regroup and turn this around like they did in the June slide. One thing is clear as many have stated here...Maybe getting that power RH COF bat is more important than getting another starter. It is quite possible we could be competitive for the AL West title or WC with a healthy rotation of Yu, Holland, Ogando, Perez and a ? mark fifth starter. But will such a rotation be competitive in the post season without Harrison and/or Lewis coming back in good form? It is baseball and time will only tell.

Definitely a frustrating series against a good Baltimore team. Injuries, mental mistakes, and just getting outplayed are all sometimes part of the game. Fortunately, unlike a number of fans, the front office, the coaches and the players won't panic, but instead they will just continue to "grind".

Getting Darvish and Ogando back today and tomorrow will presumably help, as could acquiring a player or three. Still, I expect there will be more struggles ahead, regardless of whether the team is able to remain in playoff contention. After all, there are two teams in every contest, so winning requires more than just expecting to do so.

Poorly as the team played against a very good O's squad, they did manage to battle back and make the games competitive. I find that encouraging and something that a fan of the team should appreciate.

That's a good point that's worth noting. I just got irritated reading some of the comments in the game threads the past couple of nights.

I can understand the frustration as a fellow "bleeding red and blue" fan of the team. I have coached younsters (ages 4-10) in youth baseball over the past 5 years (mostly coaching my son's team). At that level you have to have A LOT of patience no doubt. You still get frustrated when you see a kid with great potential not pay attention and make mistakes. At that level it is more about encouraging and constructively correcting. Wow at the pro level they still make mistakes but we are less forgiving because they are pros and get paid millions.

Of course it's frustrating for a fan of a team to watch his team lose seven of eight. I feel that frustration myself. I just get irritated by fans who respond by claiming that the organization --from FO to coaches to players -- doesn't know what it's doing. To me, such a response suggests a lack of appreciation for just how difficult it is to always come out on top.
