Bmurph
F the Houston Astros
Lineup just couldn't scratch out a run, was likely not gonna be a win without scoring
Dumb thing about it is if he just throws home it's a non-issue. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a called play to try and throw off the young pitcher.
Well that's a bad way to lose. Specially since the ump missed strike 3 earlier in the AB.
Umpire's zone got tighter in the bottom of the ninth for sure.
Should be called a Balk off
I just hope they can take one in Chicago.
He was ready to go home but after looking at it again it was a good call on the balk.
Rodon was lit up in his last start
It was. Kela just goof'd there. I could've gotten over giving up the game on anything else there, but that just sucks.
It does but if he learns and grows from it, I suppose it is worth it, never want to give a game away though.
I was always under the impression that a balk was something a pitcher did to deceive a runner. Losing your focus isn't being intentionally deceitful. The rule has too much ambiguity. It might cause a team once every few years at most, but what a waste of 3 hours for the game to be decided by a guy shrugging his shoulders. I thought only Elvis lost games shrugging his shoulders...
Its a rule that so rarely happens I wonder if it needs to be just gotten rid of at this point. Hitters are allowed to call time out and it fucks with a guy's windup. Pitchers don't really get that luxury. If they move once they have to come home or get called for a balk. Its simply about illegal actions that pitcher cannot do with runners on, doesn't have to to be deliberate, simply outlawed actions, the rules are actually pretty detailed about what they can and cannot do
The reason the rule was created was probably b/c of things pitchers WERE doing to deceive runners at one time
It's the part of Kela's game that still needs work. He has the stuff he just needs to get it under control. Its also why its always a bad thing to walk the leadoff hitter
