This is the score I thought it would be I just wasn't sure who would have the 1 run. Brown has a better ERA of the two. Has a 98 mph sinker, 96 mph fastball and 88 mph change up. One of the best pitchers in baseball. Great job deGrom.

You are right about the ERAs. I did dig into it a little this morning to find that Brown's road ERA was just barely better than deGrom 's home ERA. It was so close that now deGrom's home ERA is probably slightly better than Brown's road ERA.

Agree. Only had time to watch Brown in the fifth. I’ll watch the condensed game later. I’ve never seen a pitcher consistently hit the middle of the edges of the box like Brown did in that inning.

There were some questions about de Grom after his first few starts. He has answered them thorougly.

Really rough night for Semien, both in the box score and the eye test. The bat speed looks different (in fact, it’s just ninth-percentile in the league right now), the swing decisions are not the same, and while he does still put a charge into a baseball from time to time, all of the following rates have plummeted from above-average in 2024 (which was not a great year for Semien) to average or less:

• squared-up percentage
• chase percentage
• whiff percentage
• strikeout percentage

I hate seeing it. He was such an important cog in the championship team and, I’m sure, remains very important in the room. But it does look like age may be winning.
