We will likely have trouble with him, LHP we haven't seen much of. Just hope Derek pitches well

A great value with his numbers. His father was an MLB player and William is a true consummate professional. As Mark Grant said, ask anyone who's ever been on a team with him to utter one negative syllable about him. No one will. Top-notch dude all the way who can play everywhere in the OF and be depended on to never waste an AB.

He's pretty much the last of the true Padres from the teams I really loved. AJ Preller's has made this his team.

Alex was optioned to make room for Holland I believe. Also some speculation that Leonys will get called up to be put on the 60 day DL to make room for Venable.

They have already DFAed Choice for Venable so they might make the Leonys move to the 60 day DL for Holland to clear room on the 40.

He only made thru 4 against us last time in our lone win in Seattle and 2 of his last 5 starts he has not made it out of the 3rd and has walked 19 batters in his last 23 innings (5 starts) or so. Make him throw strikes.

Nice to hear we have picked up another stand-up guy. Hamels is of the same ilk.

It's really good to know he takes each AB to it's max.

Question: Who all get called up when the rosters expand?

Grant: My guesses and this probably won't be complete: Andrew Faulker, Jon Edwards, Phil Klein, Chi Chi Gonzalez (who I suspect will be optioned this week), both Carlos Corporan and Robinson Chirinos, Hanser Alberto, Ryan Rua (possibly) and ... of course, there is always the possibility of Gallo coming back. Not sure he can do much as a left-handed pinch hitter this year, but boy the power tool certainly plays.

The only one I wonder about is Corporan. Why would we want him back here?

Being patient and making the opposing pitcher throw strikes, isn't exactly their forte. Hopefully they can do it today and stop swinging at every FB neck high. Another series win would be nice

I wonder if Napoli starts today. Even if he is not hitting he has a good eye and will take a walk. And I hope you are right about our chances. We need to keep winning series.
