Hope it is Murph. These series' away could make or break us. What, the Mariners, A's then the Angels. - 'gulp'. Tepesch needs to prove himself till Holland comes back. I must say I seriously have my doubts.

And thanks for starting the thread.

So much more interesting things going on right now than watching this rangers team. The NBA finals and World Cup. I'll still watch some, but injuries have dampened the enthusiasm.

Just gotta hope the starters can keep us in the games, the defense plays well and the offense can scratch out some runs, then the W's happen. We have played better on the road so why not? .500 baseball is all I hope for at this point......oh and seeing the young guys do well.

The NBA finals likely won't last much longer and you said the USA won't win a game in their group so not sure why you would want to watch that? Maybe you are rooting for Germany or Brazil? If you don't find Rangers baseball interesting despite what they have endured so far then you are welcome to stop posting here and go watch something that interests you more, maybe gay pron or something? I am kidding but not really, not sure why you are so negative all the time?

To answer your question, the baseball gods haven't given Rangers fans anything to be positive about this season. Never seen a team get decimated like this.

We took it to Detroit in Detroit, didn't we? Anything is possible. What this team needs to do more than anything is stay together. They know how important these series' are. And Darvish needs to master the A's.

I'll give you that, but at the same time there are some bright spots and reasons to watch. It ain't all bad yet and hell it could get worse as well but until it does I'm going to enjoy what we got.

I don't know about master but I do know for the caliber of pitcher he is, Darvish needs to do much better vs a division rival than what he has shown in the past vs the A's. Their ballpark has not been a place he's had any success either

Play hard, play for each other and let the rest play out. That is about all you can ask for at this point

That's how I feel as well. These guys still have some fight in them. It's an uphill battle but still a lot of things worth sticking around and watching for. You never know, we might watch one of these young guys blossom into a star.

From Grant:

Hit Leonys Martin leadoff: Martin is a prodigious talent who has shown little, if any, grasp of the nuances of the game in his nearly three seasons in the majors. When his talent is on display, it’s a beautiful thing to watch. When he’s asked to make baseball decisions, well, hide your wives and hide your kids.

The leadoff spot is as much about the latter as the former, so he’s likely to have some ugly games there. But there is no greater education in the majors than experience, and that’s a sentiment Ron Washington often espouses. Put him there, leave him there and work with him daily on philosophy and approach.

In the long term, a capable Martin at the top of the order means the Rangers can hit Choo second, Adrian Beltre third, Fielder fourth and Alex Rios fifth in 2015. Now that’s a stout start to a lineup.

Pull Martin off the field when necessary: If the Rangers had a class yearbook, Martin would be named player “Most Likely to be Fined by the Manager.” He has continued to miss cutoff men and been reminded about the issue. He has run through stop signs and been reminded about the issue. He has missed signs and been reminded about the issue. However the Rangers are reminding him hasn’t gotten the point across. It may be time for tougher love. Washington has never pulled a player off the field, and it is an embarrassing moment, but gentler, kinder approaches haven’t worked yet. Maybe embarrassment will.

Another from Grant:

Order a plaque: Or better-yet a stone-chiseled tablet. It should read: “Thou shall not convert late-inning relievers to starters.” Here are the last four guys to try the process: Neftali Feliz, Alexi Ogando, Tanner Scheppers and Robbie Ross. That’s Tommy John surgery, two guys with serious elbow inflammation issues and one guy who was not suited for the role in the first place.

The anecdotal data on health alone is enough to stop the experiment for the future. But the rotation has suffered the last three years as a result of counting on relievers-turned-starters. The Rangers didn’t pursue offseason pitching and wound up dealing for Ryan Dempster in 2012 and Matt Garza in 2013, skimming off a layer of minor league talent in the process. This season, there was a lot of hope for young guys, and it all fizzled. The idea is novel. On paper, starters are more valuable than relievers. In real life, successful relievers beat injured starters every day.

We've all been preaching to get EA out of the #2 spot, and Evan said the same thing I said the other day which was to put Odor in the #2 spot. I don't like Leonys as the lead off hitter, but like he said....we might as well try some things out. Leonys sees a lot of bad pitches because he swings at them. Maybe leading off the game he might see a few more good pitches. If it happened t work then you have a formidable 1-5.
