HOF's are a joke. Does anybody here really think that Vlad Guererro isn't a HOF'er? I'm an M's fan, I love Ichiro, but would anybody in their right mind take Ichiro over Vlad in their prime? And Ichiro is going to be a first ballot guy.
I think he's borderline, and Vlad is going to get in next year anyway. I feel the same way about Ichiro, borderline. One is going to be first ballot, the other 2nd ballot.

I haven't read that, no.

I don't view Unit as better than Grove on the whole, nor during his time as a Mariner. I don't view any lefty as better than Grove. Not sure what's inconsistent. And I'm not making a case, I'm stating my opinion. Randy Johnson was a HOFer when he left the Mariners.
You didn't respond to my Santana comparison.

I think the best comparison I can find for Johnson with Seattle would be Johan Santana.

Santana finished top 3 in CYA 4 times (won twice to Johnson's 1 win, and had another top 5 finish), led the league in K/9 3 times to Johnson's 5 but led in WHIP 4 times to Johnson's 1. Santana had more innings, a 139-78 record compared to 133-78 for Johnson. Career 50.7 WAR to Johnson's 39.2. Comparison isn't perfect but I think it's as close as you're gonna find.

And I have Santana just missing out on the HOF. He's eligible this coming year so we'll see.
Santana wasn't a full time starter for long when he was a Twin. But he was great. Whole career to Randy as an M?

Santana limited walks and Unit was harder to hit.

Prolly a solid comparison really. Especially if you break it down to innings as a starter(which I didn't) that's gotta be close.

I wouldn't vote for Santana his first few years, that's for sure.

Santana had 284 starts in his career. When Johnson left Seattle he had 276. I have Santana on the outside looking in, and I think he was better than Johnson pre-Houston. So I would have Johnson out after when he left Seattle.

He went 14-15 after age 31.

And is a HOFer.

But if by this you're not implying/saying that Johnson's first 11 years are comparable to Waddell's career then what on earth does this fact about Waddell have to do with the discussion we were having about Johnson?

Santana is not a first balloter... but I would definitely vote him in... He sure did not have the longevity, but from 2004 to 2010 he was an all time great...

Differentiating between ballots is dumb. You're either a HOFer or your not. If your vote is no, it should stay no.
