Durty just got dumped by the Chubs. Damn, kid has mental issues. Since the trade, his MLB ERA is 8.73 and has been with the Royals, Pirates, doggies, Cubs and Rocks.

Hembree was called up to the BoSox yesterday. He has appeared in two games for Pawtucket and K'd 4 while walking 2 and giving up 1 hit in 1.2 IP (1.800 WHIP).

For his career, he has pitched 11.2 innings of scoreless ball.

Castillo expects to sign sometime this week, and there are no current rumors that have the Giants in the mix.

Could mean anything...

1) The Giants ARE in the mix, but quietly (this fits their MO)
2) They like Panik at 2B and think Carbonell is enough of a prospect to not "overpay" for Castillo.
3) SabeySabes is asleep at the wheel and proving that he is, in fact, the worst GM in baseball, and is actually trying to get Rocco Baldelli to come out of retirement instead

I think Panik has shown enough to get the job for the rest of the year. More importantly, I think the FO thinks this too.

He's really been a revelation. The perplexing thing is Craw's injury; he's clearly unwell but we have nobody who can step in and give us a close approximation of his value. EA is hurt, Arias isn't a SS and Duffy isn't ready. Don't be surprised if Craw has a procedure right after the season.
