2800 yards rushing in 3 years, 3700 yds from scrimmage in 3 years..is more like 'adequate' results rather than 'strong' results, 24 TD's ain't bad though.

For perspective, his draft classmates-
Josh Jacobs - 3000 rushing, 3800 yfs, 28 TD's and constantly disrespected by fantasy drafts (and even by his own NFL team now)
Miles Sanders - 2439, 3300, and 12
D Singletary- 2300, 3000, and 14
D. Harris, with 1.5 years as 'the starter' - 1600, 1800, and 17 (extrapolated over 3 full seasons he'd have just under 3000 yds rushing and 30 scores and that's counting the utter shit show that the patriots offense was under Cam Newton his first 'half' season as the starter. He's basically an after thought outside of the 'zero RB' strategy disciples)

D. Henderson, T. Pollard- aren't exactly comparable being primarily a #2- why the Rams took Henderson over Montgomery is still a mystery.

With Monty's ADP (per fantasy pros) currently being in the low-mid 30's overall, and Jacobs being right at 40th overall..I'd say he's getting more respect than he deserves. That or Jacobs is the one truly being dissed. Previous production says Jacobs should be the one being drafted higher.

Great post!

Why are so many sour on Jacobs? Underperforming? Injuries? Declining the 5th yr option?

outside of dynasty rookie drafts in 19' he's ALWAYS been dissed, and I can't understand why. 1000 yards and 8-10 like clockwork. great RB2, or your decent #1 if you went WR heavy.

Last year some foolishly thought Kenyon Drake would steal some thunder..turns out he sucks if he's not running out of an RPO system.

This year? I can't understand it myself. For starters, we get into the great debate about the history of the Patriot's RB system, given the fact that Josh McDaniels is calling the shots, and his history, just like BB's, is that if he's got a horse he will ride him. Everyone that can't see that can just bugger off , 'cuz the numbers don't lie, but regardless, the prevailing sentiment is "OMG Josh McD is gonna turn the backfield into a fantasy shit show!!" (it won't be, at least, I'm certainly willing to bank on it not being a shit show, because Jacobs is a 3 down horse and that will become very apparent).

And then after that, yes, you've got the issue with declining is 5th year option-which I truly don't understand. If he's not under contract for the future, why wouldn't you run him into the ground? It's not like they released him, or are entertaining the idea of releasing him. There's nothing holding the Raiders back from using and abusing him as much as possible.

Personally, I chalk up his declined 5th year option to nothing more than new GM, new HC, and the devaluation of the RB position. why would the new regime commit without seeing first hand if this guy is in their future plans? Derek Carr I get, QB's don't grow on trees, but NFL execs seems to think that good RB's do. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see them re-sign him mid season or shortly after, prior to the deadline of him becoming a UFA. Happens more often than you'd think with declined option years. Garret Bolles in Denver springs to mind. They declined his option , he turned in a very good half season and they re-signed him in November. If Jacobs can start off with 65+ yds per game, averaging 1 score every other game, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them re-sign him. Then again, maybe Josh MCD has his eyes on a completely different style of RB for the near future and it doesn't matter what Jacobs does.

Injuries? meh, maybe, he's often dinged, but doesn't actually miss much time, 3 games his rookie year, 1 in 2020, and 2 in 2021, not terrible durability for a RB.

and Underperforming? well, in general, I'd say he's performed well above average for an NFL starting RB, however, he hasn't exactly performed as expected for a guy picked in the 1st round. So while he's been pretty good, he hasn't quite met some expectations, so perhaps? But I put a lot of that onto Chucky and shit game plans for 2.5 years.

Great stuff here.

TBH I was confused about why they would decline his 5th year when he's been a stable producer. Not exceeding expectations, but great production nonetheless. FF often sets too high a bar on people then they're quick to move on without seeing any obvious red flags.

I'm all about finding those devalued guys in the middle rounds that everyone is dismissing.

I like seeing those dudes fall to me after I've scored two WR's too. No problem whatsoever rolling with Jacobs as my RB1 if I'm sitting on 2 of Kupp/Jefferson/Chase/Adams/Diggs/Lamb.

I hate the anxiety I get in the 3rd & 4th rds.... Eyes on the RB cliff... just screaming at me internally. Do I play it safe & lock up RB2, or go for the alpha WRs lol

Jacobs stock going to go down further since he took snaps in the HOF game last night when most of the locked in starters sat out.
Our favorite hype site The Athletic then ran a story this morning saying that the existing staff might already prefer White ("their guy") over Jacobs/Drake but will still prob mix all 3 in a fantasy nightmare committee. The Athletic hasn't met a rookie that they don't love yet, from what I can tell.

Also read that Jacobs has missed a chunk of time this off season so they could've just been knocking some rust off.

He's without a doubt on my RB2 radar this draft season, loved seeing him 9th in RB targets and 5th in RB rec last year...those are "my guy" numbers at RB when I'm doing my draft research

McDaniels said he wants his RBs to get really tackled some in pre-season, and you don't get that in practice.

its funny that that's the initial reaction to him seeing time in that game. He got a few touches was out before the end of the second series. Traditionally, pretty typical of starting offensive players in a 1st preseason game. Adams, Renfrow, Waller, if Carr ain't playing, there's zero reason for those dudes to play.

Hardman in general makes me nervous. He had progressively been used more and more as a short yardage YAC guy against 2 Deep Shells and he didnt perform. Now he is expected to take a step up? Eh... I do think Hardman had a lot of 'almost' big plays that never quite happened. He still looks like Mahomes' 4th option to me behind Kelce, MVS, and Juju. Hardman had a slant route in the first preseason game that should've gone 10 and he cut it short and went 9. Thats been the story of Hardman.

I have 3 drafts coming up. All 3 are different. A standard scoring league, a 2QB PPR (& return yardage) league and an auction.

Gettin' very very antsy waiting!!!!! :ranger:

Anyone worried or wondering what’s up with Brady disappearing with no date of his return? Glad I have no stock in Bucs players because something is off. Could Brady decide to retire after all? Could be nothing but this is just weird.
