Rams vs Falcons - predictions

Chris Long is questionable with a hip pointer, which doesn't help.

However, the Falcons questionable list:

WR Roddy White (ankle), WR Julio Jones (knee), T Sam Baker (knee), DT Jonathan Babineaux (knee), LB Sean Weatherspoon (knee), CB Asante Samuel (thigh)

Their two explosive WRs, their LT, then their best DT, best LB, and their best CB. For week 2, that's a huge list.

And it goes a long way to explain why they didn't do much against a decimated New Orleans defense that was down 3 players to season ending injures including their best pass rusher and was in game 1 of a shift from 4-3 to 3-4, and oh by the way gave up a record number of yards last year.

Unless the Rams young team just wilts under the pressure of the dome, I expect this to be a close game. Honestly at this point because of the injuries, I'd say the only place this team is better than the Cards is at TE and maybe at RB. But the O-line is at least as bad, and the secondary is worse. The WRs should have been better, but with both stars injured, probably won't be.

Obviously, I'm rooting for the Rams. But, I think it is a close game with the Falcons winning 24-21.

Atlanta should win, according to the "experts", but I'm looking for an upset and I think Bradford and Austin are going to have big days and surprise the pundits.

Long won't be 100%, and might not play, but I believe the Rams can hold Atlanta to just an average day on Offense.

So, I have the Rams winning 27-21.

No worries Silas with Long and the hip pointer. There is little drop-off if Hayes fills in as a starter. No problem. You'd like to have Long in there but Hayes is an excellent back-up.

There has been money on the Rams this week. The spread has moved from 7 to 5½. I agree with this. Picking the Rams on the ESPN pick' em was 1 of the easier choices. The Rams definitely have a chance. If you ignore previous seasons the Rams have a big chance. I can't do that. The Falcons are still a very similar team to the 1 that reached the NFC Championship game last year and their home record with Ryan at QB is phenomenal. I think the Rams have a 25-30% chance but both teams are a bit erratic at the moment and either could leave a lot of points on the field. I wasn't tempted into taking the 11/5 odds. I'm certainly not taking 19/10. Falcons win 24-20.
