2nd overall from the Skins…. MAN the Rams are smiling … So #2 and #13 as it sits … You never know for sure in the draft how a player will pan out but it sure helps getting multiple top picks ….Rams got the best of the Redskins in this deal and it's a landslide…

I knew how RG3 would pan out. I called the kid a bust the day he entered the draft (I was laughed off a lot of boards, called a racist (???), etc. etc.).

RG3 was all "Hmm first option not available? RUN!" and took a lot of unnecessary hits in college. When the Skins traded up and gave up the landslide of picks I was laughing my butt off.

Skins are a horrible organization and until Snyder leaves, they'll remain irrelevant.

He had a decent first year before the injury but regardless it's just too much of a gamble to give up 3- 1st round picks and a 2nd for 1 player… Keeping your team competitive and below the cap you have to bring in young talent year in and year out you can't gamble your future… You want as many picks as you can get because so many don't pan out…

Well obviously they saw RGIII as one of those franchise quarterbacks that could turn the franchise around. If you think you have the next Peyton Manning in the draft then it is worth taking the risk. He rookie year he did well until the injury. He actually looked like he was going to take his team on his back and beat a very good Seattle team. The coaches though messed up with him and his injury. They took a risk and pretty much cost RGIII a season because of it. I would expect him to have a bounce back year this next season and do just fine. Plus his team is playing a pretty easy schedule compared to the rest of the division so I could see them being a team on the rise.

I still think if they can protect him RG3 will show he was worth the pick.

A) Protect him

B) add talent around him

c) call an offense that fit's the mold of his play....

But then again let them keep running him in the ground, my Eagles are assured two wins every season...

They still need to make the draft picks work out. This could be Jimmy Johnson fleecing the Vikinga, or it could very well be the Redskins failing to do anything with the picks from the Ricky Williams trade, or Cleveland with the picks they got for Julio, or the Cards and the picks they got for Ryan Leaf.

RGIII has shown he has talent. His rookie year he showed that he has the ability to be one of the most explosive players in the NFL with both his arm and legs. Jay Gruden is going to have to show he knows how to develop RGIII but my guess is he will do just fine. Plus remember Washington is finally off their cap restrictions so they don't have to bring in 2nd class players to start. They should have a little wiggle room to sign some quality players.

Its hard to protect him when you lose 3-1st rd picks and a 2nd rounder for him.

Its hardeer to make the trade, then just befroe FA starts you find out you are losing 18 Mil in cap for the next 2 years!!1 that more then the picks hurt them I believe.....well that and Shanny leaving him in the Seattle game when it was aparent to everyone (except shannahan) that he needed to be out of the game.

RGIII his rookie year took the league by storm and carried his team to the playoffs...He showed all the Moxy you want in a fracnhise QB and was making everyone think it was a good deal for the Skins...I am hopeful he plays much better this year, and if he does, and he is our franchise QB...then the picks given up were worht it....I am sick of the reg grossmans, becks, banks, george yada yada yada that we paraded out there in hopes they could do the job

On paper, it's a no brainer (4 picks for 1 I think)...but, on the field, neither squad made the playoffs this past season so I don't think the trade favors either team yet.

You don't get many chances at a talent like Griffin. It's worth it.

Hmmm... So - one good season and one bad one is being "a bust". Whatever dude. Don't ever lose your objectivity.

Especially his bust season being pretty much played on one leg for at least part of it. I actually like the mentality that RGIII seems to be taking into this off season. He is playing a more quiet role and seems to be a bit more focused on football. Plus I do think Jay Gruden will have more of a focus towards the run game than Shannahan did this past year protecting RGIII a bit more.

I thought coaching was a huge factor in RG3 having a great rookie season and also a tough year to follow.

I think one set up the other actually.

Shanahan did a terrible coaching job both years. He's a bad coach.

But that's the thing... You just don't know how he 'll pan out so 4 high picks is always better than 1 ... That's why it's scary throwing all your chips at one pick.

Too early to tell. RG3 reminds me of Newton and VIck. They all had 1 real good season in college and people buy into all the hype. Lets see how him and Cam pan out. Manziel if he plays QB in NFL will be banged up like Vick and RG3. Cam is just much bigger and can take the hits

Scary but worth it. There isn't a QB in the league with more talent.
