LOL, a relic from the Singletary era. I didn't realize he was still around. I thought he was long gone from the NFL
He's pretty much a special teams player and 3rd string safety.

Yep, too many misses like Mays (2nd rounder), and your team starts to go downward. Then you have to rely on free agency a little more, and your cap gets pushed up.
Drafting can't be perfect and every team misses, so its the frequency of misses. A team can even "survive" an entire bad class (our 2012), if there was enough talent to begin with. But back to back poor classes is a HUGE problem.
So far Baalke had only one bad year, granted it was REALLY bad.
When did Baalke take over as GM for you guys?I am not knocking the Raiders for signing him, I was just surprised he was still around. The 49ers drafting Taylor Mays will always be a reminder of the failure of Mike Singletary

2010
believe it was just before the 2010 draft? So if the reason for this question pertains to his drafting, hard to say just how much decision making he REALLY had? Just this 2010 draft of course, not referring to the drafts following it.
Yea, but isn't like Baalke just walked through the team doors in 2010. He was with the team before 2010 as a scout and then Director of Player Personnel. I am sure he was involved in the 2010 draft
involved yes, but 'final decision'?
guess i'm referring to Singletary's influence on Davis, Iupati, and Mays.
With Aldon Smith gone, Baalke's greatest pick is gone. Will Baalke be the next to go if things don't start getting better?

I can't see Baalke going anywhere in the immediate future. Jed basically picked him over Harbaugh. That said, if the season tanks, Jed will be looking for a fall guy, and Baalke is by far the most obvious one. There was a clear trend of talent-over-coaching this offseason. If that falls apart, you have to point the finger at the talent. Or the decision to favor talent over coaching. Either way, it puts Baalke in an uncomfortable position.
