I was listening to the King on the Sports Animal last night and was talking about Royal. Had nothing but good things to say about him. I didn't realize that Switzer never lost to him.

I'm not sure the average fan knows just how BIG a loss this was. Royal was one of the greatest, most innovative and original coaches in NCAA history.

Besides just creating the wishbone offense, he put the Longhorn on the texas helmets, changed the colors to burnt orange, and won 3 titles running a clean program. He was the first coach to hire an create a position of an academic advisor for players. There would be no Texas program without Coach Royal.
