If you look at those early 70's A's teams they have a lot of Moneyball type players. Bando was one of them. Lots of walks, good defense. They had a bunch of guys who put up good career WAR numbers. Reggie, Bando, Tenace, Campaneris, Bill North, Rudi.

Especially Tenace. Career .388 OBP despite being a .241 hitter.

Damn.

Saw him take Guidry deep in the stadium in the summer of '79. Lary Sorensen threw 7 perfect innings, 8 innings of no hit ball, until Chambliss broke it up in the 9th.

I saw Ben Oglivie hit the longest homer in memory off Guidry, half way up the upper deck in 1980......RIP, I always liked Bando, hard nosed tough player......

He had the most violent swing I ever saw, until Sheffield came along
