Another reason it's not an attractive gig is that we do not sit in the middle of or anywhere near a recruiting hot bed.

Millions of dollars isn't enough to overcome all the negatives about coaching here.

We most certainly would have to bring in a guy who is not as well known around the country.

you're forgetting that we have probably the easiest track to the playoff out of the power 5!

Did Bama hire Saban to average 9 wins?
Did Texas Hire Strong to average 9 wins?
Did Ohio St hire Urbs to average 9 wins?

Were those guys hired with the intent to win conference and compete for national championships?

Need I continue?

his record against ranked teams is worse than Billy C!!! good corches will understand
this. show them tape from the last two times we played Wiscy and say, we don't want this shit happening anymore and they'll understand. Show Bo on the sideline and say we don't like this attitude from our head coach. That might take a few names off the list, but I think good HCs will understand where SE is coming from.

Pelini will be gone after this year

He's winning 9 games a year,, Tickets are selling out.

If he replaces him and it's a bust it would likely be his job too.

Bo is not leaving unless he chooses to or the money forces Eichorst to take a chance.

That's actually not entirely true. Billy was 4-10 (28%) vs ranked teams losing by an average margin of 16 points in those 10 losses. Bo is currently 9-16 (36%) vs ranked teams losing by an average margin of 16.9 points in those 16 losses.

So I guess it depends how you want to look at it. Bo has more losses but a better winning percentage.

That's what always makes you a great poster, Jed.

Are those records against ranked teams when Nebraska played them or end of year rankings?

Those are ranked teams at the time Nebraska played them.

If you want Bo's record vs teams that end the season ranked then he is 7-17 in his first 6 years with an average losing margin of -17.4 points in those 17 losses.

If you only look at 2011, 2012, & 2013:
Losses to teams that end in top 25, average of -23.3 margin
Losses to teams in top 25, -21.1 average
Losses to teams that end with 9+ wins, -19.2 average

I could keep going if you want

Did any of those programs fire a guy for getting 9-10 wins though?

No. They all fired the previous guy because shit had literally hit the fan. Bama was horrid, Texas was awful, and Ohio State had no choice because sweater vest was snorting coke off of dead strippers bodies and giving players free tattoos.

If you're the next head coach at Nebraska, you automatically have to be thinking "okay, I need to win more than 9 or 10 games or these folks are going to run me out of town."

Not counting this year. 6 years under Bo. And not counting the FCS games.

7-17 vs teams that end in the top 25 with a total scoring margin of -200
9-14 vs top 25 teams at the time, -109
5-14 vs teams that end with 10+ wins, -158
2-3 vs teams that end with 9 wins, -4
9-3 vs teams that end with 8 wins, +50
8-2 vs teams that end with 7 wins, +98
6-1 vs teams that end with 6 wins, +141
8-1 vs teams that end with 5 wins, +125
15-0 vs teams that end with 4 or less wins, +349

That makes Bo's teams:
7-17 vs 9+ win teams with a total scoring margin of -162
46-7 vs 8- win teams with scoring margin of +713

9 wins supposedly our standard according to the BOlievers. Well how is Bo fairing against the teams that are their "peers"?

FIFY

The bolievers want to make it sound like 9 wins isn't good enough for us boleavers but it has nothing to do with it or why we are the laughing stock of D1 football. It's about blow outs and failure to show up for big games.

No, and I see value in your point.

Let's take Tressel out of the equation for the sake of cause.

John Cooper was fired in 2000 for back to back (6-6) and (8-4) seasons at Ohio St. His previous 3 years had been (11-1), (10-3), and (11-1) respectively. He'd tied for 3 conference championships.

Mike Shula was fired for going (6-6), but had gone (10-2) the season prior.

Mack Brown was fired following back to back (9-4) and (8-5) seasons respectfully, but had won a national championship and had plenty of big wins. He produced a (13-0), (13-1), a (12-1), 3 (11 win), 3 (10 win), and 4 (9 win) seasons.

As I said, I could go on with other examples of coaches of blue-bloods that were let go for not meeting expectations, where they'd showed the ability to win 9 and 10 games at some point.

The difference is that Bo's never had 'less than' 9 wins, yet never had more than 10. It's never been elite football.

We should try an experiment and trade coaching staffs before the game Friday just to see what happens.

In spite of the double digit loss last season. I still truly believe Bo is a better coach then Ferentz.

My mind could be changed on that this Friday though.
